Every teacher needs to own this book for her class. Every child needs to read this book!
I purchased this book, mainly because I'm a beekeeper and love anything bees, last year through my sons preschool program. Honestly, I myself hadn't read it, just adding it to my bee stuff, until I heard my 9 year old reading it to her brothers a few months ago. Wow was it good. I am so impressed with how the author relates the not so great feeling of being stung through her character, Edgar, but how even though bees do sting, they are 100% good for the Earth and mankind. I appreciate how she mentions that you just gently blow on bees to go away and explain why they sting and such. It was so relatable to children. As a mother, I really appreciate this book to not be afraid of bees. As a beekeeper, I am thankful that the author took time to accurately learn about bees and throw tons of bee facts. I love how she explains how honey is made and bee atanomy. I feel too many bee books focus on honey and not so much bees- even though they are he same thing. My 6 year old who loves bugs keeps tossing around facts. He even tells his friends at school bees are good when they freak out over bees. Our company was asked to teach a class of children at a school for an entire hour, and I sent this book (before I read it) and another children's bee book with my co-worker. He said he chose this book to read to the children and they loved it. I love this book so much that I purchased this one from Amazon for my sons future classroom. Bees are disappearing in human populated areas because of pesticides meant for other bugs, and the fear that "everyone is allergic to bees" is no help (no thanks to the 1991 movie "my girl"). Less than .01 percent of the population is allergic, and those need an epi pen. Everyone will swell up when stung, until someone's been stung a couple of hundred times, even then my co worker still swells when stung on the face, and my husband when stung on the bicep. But the benifit of the bee greatly outweighs the rare sting. And off of my soapbox I go. This book was 1 inch wider and taller than my first book through scholastic and I think the price was the same. I recommend this book to children and adults alike. It needs to be a part of every school library

Give this WONDERFUL book a chance!
I purchased Give Bees a Chance as a 3rd Birthday gift. It's one of those reads that will connect with kids of all ages (and the adults in their lives too)! Another masterpiece by author Bethany Barton, she has a unique voice and perspective, and has figured out how to take topics that are sometimes scary and turn them into fun learning opportunities. The information is easy to follow and the illustrations are super adorable.

2nd grade teacher that loves this book.
I am a teacher and thought I'd give this book a chance since it is on the Florida book list for my grade level. WOW I love this book and found so many lessons within its text, so I bought 20 copies for my kiddos. They we so excited and engaged, couldn't stop talking about the importance of bees. We read this book daily for about 3 weeks. I'd say we are "bee experts" now. lol Everyone should read this book with a child, it is so wonderfully written to relate to children. A must read!

We had a Bee Day at home to learn about bees and to conquer a few fears and this was the perfect book. Cute illustrations along with great facts about bees and what they provide for us.

Educational and informative
Love this educational book for kids, but not only for kids. I am learning all about beekeeping and this book is a basic skills all about different kinds of bees. I highly recommend this book.

Informative, but dry
Full of little-known (to me, anyway) facts about bees. Helps dispel any fear of them. Loved knowing how to encourage them to leave, without pointlessly killing them. Not sure the average kid would want to reread this; prose is dry.

Bees..What's the Buzz!
I purchased this book to read to my first graders. They loved the book and how it presents the information about bees. I have also read this author's book about spiders and that was a hit as well. The information was factual but at a child's level. The illustrations captured the attention of my students. Great addition to your children's literature classroom library.

Such a great book!
I had to buy a book for my daughter to read for school. I am so happy this is the one we chose because we both learned so much about bees. My kids are very scared of bees but now they understand just how important bees are for us all. I've already passed it forward so other kids can learn how to appreciate what bees do.

Hard to read a loud but has good info
The book has a lot of detail and facts about Bees. It's hard to share as a whole class but the information is worth it. Small group or individual reading with the book is easier. I paired it with a read aloud of it on YouTube and that was good. It's a fun presentation

Very informative book.
This book has lots of bee information. The child I gave it to is smart but a bit younger than the age suggests. She loves books and insisted I read it to her. She liked it.
