ncx 1200r review
Wow, this guitar is great . The sound is very well balanced. The lows are rich and warm and with proper technique can achieve that flemeco growl . The highs are clear and clean and if plucked have a very POP to them , for me the best part is how every note stands out , no muted tones . Intonation is spot on . Action is a little high but it is a classical. neck is nice and wide. The solid wood construction is perfect and very solid the overall fit and finish is very good . It is made in China but at a yamaha factory, tour on u tube . And not subletted out to the cheapest bidder. The quality control is better. The electronics package is Freakin awesome. Compared to the fishmans that come in most $600 and up guitars the yamaha sounds so much better, I didn't even buy this to plug in and now I can't stop I am super impressed. It also comes with a sound hole plug that wasn't listed . The built in tuner works way better than the fishmans I've tried . The neck is satin finish , witch I prefer and the body is gloss with no imperfections . The tuners and knobs are high quality and have no play . And lastly the case is sweet . I couldn't be happier

Great flamed maple classical guitar
This is a great beginner to intermediate guitar. It has the wider neck like a true classical guitar. The electronics are excellent. It plays very smooth. It is a very clean sounding instrument. The flamed maple is laminated; it still sounds great to me. Look at a Yamaha NCX2000FM and see what solid flamed maple will cost you. It does have a rosewood fingerboard. The sound is a little different than the normal rosewood back/sides with spurce or cedar top classical guitars. I have both by the way, NCX900FM and NCX1200R. The 900FM is a little lighter. The 1200R has deeper, booming bass. You can't go wrong with these. They are finely made instruments and you should be happy with either one. So far the favorite stings I have found for these are D'Addario EJ45LP. The action was fine out of the box on mine. They are built on the stout side and should hold up well to rough handling. They are not so delicate that the slightest jar will mess them up.

Nice guitar but not for me.
I wanted to get a classical guitar for its tone and am more accustomed to playing electric guitars. This is a handsome guitar, but feels heavy/bulky compared to others I'm used to (see above). Also, though the sound can be great, I'm not able to consistently reach the quality I'm seeking...I get lots of buzzing & squeaking. I took the guitar into my luthier and he thought the guitar was generally in good shape but said that he, himself, would have trouble playing it due to the width of the fingerboard, and it's flatness. He recommended I try a 14-16" radius instead of this--good for people who want to try some crossover from electric.

The quality is not the best. When I took out the guitar from the ...
This particular guitar model Yamaha NCX2000R Acoustic-Electric Classical (made in Japan) is very responsive guitar. The quality is not the best. When I took out the guitar from the box I found one piece of scrap wood felt out from sound hole. I have look for detail I found that a piece felt out from the wood block mount under the pre-amp Jack. When guitar jack socket was installed they need to the drill a hole from bottom of the guitar goes through wood block behind it till the drill bit penetrate to other side but somehow the drill bit didn't goes through and leave 1 mm of layer at very end seal the hole, so when the jack socket was installed fit in to the hole it pushes and beaks the thin layer wood seal the hole into the guitar body and a piece of wood was not perfectly round like a size of drill hole, it came out with thin long side surrounding peel of with the round seal the hole together. It was a small piece of scrap wood thin and about 3 cm long with round circle in middle. It was not a big and major problem, it doesn't effect the sound and it is hidden inside the guitar no one can see. I though it was made in Japan must be perfect and pay attention to detail but still had a little mistake. I'm kind of perfection person so I just felt a little bit unpleasant for first impression but it is very good guitar.Play ability: It is very easy to play and very low action.Acoustic Sound: It's sound amazing, warmth and crystal clear.Plug in to an Amp: clean sound with natural tone, one of the best pre-amp and pick up for classical guitar.Overall this guitar is very good guitar I would recommend this guitar. I give 4 star for this guitar.

An excellent value and great instrument
I've had this guitar for about 8 months and really love it. I bought it when I had to return my 35 year old Martin classical to the dealer for repairs. I was especially looking for a cutaway classical for when you really have to play high up on the neck. That it is electric and has a built in tuner is just gravy. After getting my Martin back I have to say it rarely comes out of the case because the Yamaha is such a joy to play. Not quite as much volume as the Martin but the tone is just as sweet. My only criticism is it lacks neck side dots except on the 5th an 7th frets. I ended up getting some stick on dots and that solves the issue except some of them tend to come off now and then if rubbed accidentally when handling the guitar.

Wish It Had Been Better
I really liked this guitar, but was finally compelled to return it after a few days. Might have been the crappy factory strings, but it wouldn't stay in tune for more than an hour at a time. It was still doing this after a week of stretching. During this week, I had compiled a grocery list of setup items that I would need to take care of to make the guitar reasonably playable (lower saddle height, adjust the neck, file sharp edges off the fret wires, and completely replace the nut because the strings were too close together, plus fix a couple of buzzes that developed after couple of days of tuning and playing and a large spot of glue that had been wiped at on the back of the case). So what next? Should I have to do all that to a thousand-dollar guitar? The tuning thing just broke the camel's back. Too much wrong, and some of it by design (e.g., I've seen a review on the $3000 model with the same complaint about the nut). So I'm in the hunt again, most likely for something made in Europe. This guitar had a lot going for it (configuration if not setup), but ultimately, the things that had been overlooked killed the deal for me.

Awesome tone and playability!
A nice addition to my home recording studio! This is a very easy guitar to play right out of the box. Plugged into my Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface and using Magix Music Studio software on my computer, the Yamaha NCX700, provides the classical guitar tone, which was difficult to achieve using an external microphone. Overall very happy with the tonal characteristics possible through the controls. Also chose the wider fretboard of this model over the NTX700,which has the narrower spacing; since I enjoy finger picking! Happy to have added this guitar to my collection of instruments!
