Brazos Rustic Wood Walking Stick, Hickory, Traditional Style Handle, for Men & Women, Made in The USA

Like others here, my expectations were minimal... As someone said, "It's just a STICK", right? But once I took a good look at it and held it in my hands, it became more than just a "stick". It is truly a fine work of craftsmanship. I don't care if it took the person who made it a few minutes, or a few days to finish it, this walking stick is a damn fine piece of work! It's got some weight to it, but it's not TOO heavy, so you know it's a young or "new" creation. It feels and sounds STRONG and flexes when you strike it on the ground, which means it's not going to snap in two the first time you need to fend off a charging Rotweiller or Meth-head. It's not as light as my short knob ash CANE, therefore not as fast, (it will require a bit of a change in training or tactics), but I very much like the fact that whatever kind of creature(s) I am confronting will be held at a much longer distance, giving me just a bit more reaction time. Since I'm getting older, that means more than it used to.But the best part is that I can already feel that it will greatly benefit my posture after only a short walk! My short cane was good for support, especially when I get a bit dizzy after taking my BP meds, but it left my back sore because I tended to lean to one side when using the cane. This "staff", or "walking stick", forces me to walk much more upright and my back feels all the better for it! (I think I like the term "walking stick" since I consider a "staff" to be taller than I am, as Little John might have carried in the Robin Hood tales, but I digress...)Bottom line is that I could not have picked out a better "walking stick" myself, nor could I have made one this nice without going to a great deal of expense in time and effort. Well worth every penny! Well done, Brazos! I'll be back for more. These will make great gifts. You can't go wrong with something so well crafted and individually beautiful. This is a really classy walkway stick. The stick has beautiful bark that is finished to perfection and blends with the natural wood on the stick. Very rugged and will last for years. All of this at a great price.

I was more than pleased when I received this hiking staff. Excellent balance between weight, length, durability and appearance. Not too heavy, not too light. Valued for its rugged strength, to my eyes the wood is beautiful. Someone in my family will cherish this staff once I've walked my final mile.

I knew the company made good products. I have a wonderful walking cane they make with a big brass handle. It helped when I was still teaching on days when my rheumatoid arthritis made walking painful. I kept it close at hand, feeling confident that if an intruder with malicious intentions came into the classroom, I could wallop them to protect my children, and it made me feel safer in the parking lot, since I arrived at school well before 6am. Now I am retired to the country. Walking our property, where the ground is uneven, made me fear losing my balance. This stick will help more than my trusty cane, especially when I must step down, as I do when I walk down to the spring. The length gives it more versatility for It is lovely. Of course, as a sixth generation Texan, though living in Arkansas now, love to buy from businesses in Texas. The only difficulty was getting off the plastic in which is was wrapped. My husband took care of that. I will enjoy this staff for many years, and may order extras for guests and to have at hand in the outbuildings, and just because they are beautiful, and each one unique. The price seems amazingly low!

I really like this walking stick. My only wish is that it had a hand grip. Summers are hot and it gets pretty sticky holding on.

I'm doing all I can to re-hab following a serious knee injury. My physical therapist recommended several stretches and movements supported by, ideally, hiking sticks in both right and left hands. After trying to make a pair of my own from dowels (they broke!) and then carefully looking on the Internet, These handcrafted hiking sticks from Brazos -- which are available in a nice variety of lengths, and also of wood sources -- seemed like a good bet. I ordered a pair of 55" Hickory hiking sticks (I'm about 6' in height). They arrived promptly, have rubber feet, come with instructions if you need to shorten them--shortening requires a saw and about one minute. They are beautiful, beautifully finished, have rounded, beautifully sanded and varnished tops/sides, and are STRONG. Having a hand-crafted item like this to help me get back to normal function is a pleasure. I'm looking forward to taking these out on trails when I'm able to get back to hiking!

Bought this walking stick to use as a cane as well as when taking walks/mild hikes. The stick came well packaged, shipped quickly, and the quality is good. The rubber tip is firmly affixed to the bottom and there is a nice, sturdy leather strap at the top. Overall, I like how straight it is, how sturdy it is, and the height works great for me.

The walking stick was shipped fast, and it is a strong Hickory stick. I can't find anything wrong with the walking stick. My new best friend as I have a challenge walking at times. For me this walking stick is perfect.
