Does not work with slim/flat cables but a convenient solution for full size CAT6 termination
If you're like me, you may have accumulated a variety of ethernet cables over the years, but in the past few I've typically purchased flat white CAT6 that can easily be run along baseboards and around corners while blending in easily. I had a handful already terminated at a patch panel that were too long and the excess was just bundled together, but when I came across these I thought perhaps this was an easy solution and I could trim the excess, clip on and be back in business. Alas, no go - the twisted pairs inside two different top selling amazon brand flat white cables are too skinny for these. They're impossible to hold in place, so I busted out the magnetic gooseneck pinchers and took care of that part, lined them and clamped together. No luck. Pulled it back apart and discovered that the wires were too thin to be punctured by the jack connectors , so their sheathing was unscathed and obviously nothing was flowing through because it was just plastic on metal. I tried it out with a normal "fat" CAT6 cable and it worked much better. Easy to install even without the goosenecks because the wires are thick enough to retain their shape when you bend them and they sit much better in the pins. Worked perfectly on the first attempt and confirmed 2.5gbps transmission without issue. I would definitely recommend these if you're looking to terminate thick, full size round cat6 cables without specialized tools. If you want to get crazy with it, a little blob of non conductive superglue on the wires before you close it up will ensure they never move even if strained.

Great for a one-off project
I was pulling some cabling between two rooms across the house and needed a few jacks to install. Unfortunately I don't have my punchdown tool on hand right now, so I ordered these as they don't need any specialized tools. The punchdown backing works great and the dust shield covers everything very cleanly. I'm actually using a device attached to one of these jacks to write this review and I'm really happy with how this is working so far.

Very easy to use
I am sorry, if you can’t figure these out then you probably shouldn’t be wiring your network. I have been installing networks for over 20 years and this is about as easy as you can get. Step one: strip back your wire about an inch or so and feed through cap. Step two: untwist the wire pairs and fit them into the small channels on the cap according to the wiring diagram. Step three: push the cap onto the jack to terminate the wires. Step four: use some small wire cutters to clip the excess wire. That is all there is to it. I didn’t use the zip ties. It really doesn’t get any easier that.

Not exactly toolless
One reviewer stated that, if you don't already know how to do network wiring then you probably shouldn't be doing it. Nonsense. There are plenty of videos and websites that explain this. If you have never pulled cable, you probably don't have a lot of the tools needed. Research and you will get suggestions for all that you need. These keystones are not toolless, you will need wire cutters to cut off those wires sticking out (see vendors pictures for the product). I also had to use channel locks to crimp down one because it just wouldn't press all the way in on its own no matter how hard I pressed. That all being said, using these "toolless" type keystones is a lot easier than punching the wires down with a punch tool; and less time consuming. What would have taken 15-20 minutes to put three RJ45 jacks on I was able to do in 6-7 minutes. Here is how I would do, let's say, three CAT6 cables: - Have your tools and jacks on hand. - Using the jacket stripper, cut the jackets about 1in from the end, but DO NOT remove them! - Once all three jackets are cut, slide a snap-fit over the end of the wire (make sure it is in the correct direction) and then pull the jacket off and spread the wires out in four directions and untwist the wires. - Move the snap-fit piece to the end of the jacket up against the wires. - Following the color coding, put the wires in the correct position for its color. You should already know if you are wiring for 568A or 568B. For instance, my CAT6 patch panel defaulted to 568B so I just went with 568B. As long as each end is the same standard at both ends of the wire, it will work. - Press the snap-fit onto the cable conductor. There should be no gap once it is pressed into place. You may have to use channel locks to get it to do so. But that doesn't happen very often. - Use wire cutters to cut off the excess wire sticking out - Close the clear plastic lock caps together - Boom. Done. Move to the next wire.

First no punch down jacks I've used
Used these for a six home runs ( cat6 solid 23 AWG cable ) in my residence. I had no problem getting the pairs properly arranged and seated in the contacts. All runs tested fine first time with out having to replace jacks or recheck wiring. After the first few jacks I was able to wire these just as fast as punch down jacks. For larger jobs the cost outweighs the possible convenience of them. Got them just to test out. They worked as advertised and I'll probably always keep a few around for quick replacement of bad jacks.
