1st album from Hikaru Utada, who made her professional debut in December with ''Automatic''. Contains 10 tracks, including the 2nd single which came out on February 17. Excellent qualilty music by a15 year-old girl is causing quite a sensation! Review: Good sounds - Good sounds with good quality. Review: Catchy, R&B influenced popwith individual, Japanese style! - I first heard Hikki in Japan last year and her sweet voice and musical talent grabbed me instantly. This album is jam-packed with well-constructed pop songs which prove this young lady's writing ability. The production is largely influenced by American R&B/Hip-Hop, so tracks range (rather like Janet Jackson) from 'First Love' (the sweetest pop) to 'Amai Wana' (funkier, Jam/Lewis type sound). 'Automatic' was (deservedly) a huge single in the Far East and a great dance track. 'Give Me A Reason' is a finely-crafted pop song and definitely one of my favourites. Then there is the sublime 'Time Will Tell' - only 3 of the 12 good reasons for buying this CD album. All songs include a smattering of English - little hooks for non-Japanese speakers - but the overall sound will get you anyway. When will this singer/songwriter break into the world market? I can't wait for the new album!!
