Open DMX USB 70303 Lighting Interface - Open Source/Hardware Only - Entry Level Model

I outfitted several venues with this unit. Provides reliability and connects easily. Send signal well, we use Lightkey. Never have issues with it. Small and easy to hide in setups.

Used this for an eight-light DMX setup in my small dueling piano club. After some research into the right DMX software, setup was a breeze. No problems after a solid month of use. Very pleased with the value.

I got this to replace a small lighting board (wanted to try it with Lightkey software for Mac ) im using this with a 6 moving heads, 6 bars, 2 dimmer packs with 6 source four lekos and a few washes so far so good is pretty much a plug and play device light software detect it right away and no issues . Will update after a few uses .

I bought this to work with QLC+ (V4 AND V5). It worked no problem right out of the box. I am doing lots of complex efx and RGB Matrix functions with my lights so there are a ton of DMX commands going out. I know this because I tried to use wireless DMX and the wireless got overwhelmed and couldn't keep up. This little box wired to my lights works fantastic. I took off 1 star because I really think they should have put a 3 pin DMX/XLR socket on it vs the 5 pin. The 5 pin required me to go get a 5 pin to 3 pin adapter. My guess is that anyone going cheap like this on this device ISN'T going to have a bunch of 5 pin DMX cables. They will likely be using standard XLR's (like me). Anyway, this device works great even under a serious DMX load. Also, lots and lots of people using it for a ton of different programs (not just QLC+). If you are looking to get into some more complex lighting using a software like QLC+ to build your lighting solution with, this is a great little device.

Couldn’t connect to any computer I owned. Mac or Windows. Tried several. Save your money. I wouldn’t trust this on a show. You might get there and it won’t connect. I tried all the troubleshooting. Nothing worked.

This little converter saved my life. I thought I would need the pro version, but this was fine. I’m using it to communicate with a DMX splitter to access a DMX controller that already has a DMX console hooked up to it.

Although this device works well in other situations my experience trying to use it with a Pi 5 was frustrating to the point I had to return it. The Pi 5 has a totally reworked USB hardware and software which is really not intended for an application like this that must address the USB at its lowest level. Although I got it to work briefly and unreliably it was not stable enough to use. I consulted with two AI agents and after much, check this, check that both admitted that these two devices don't play well together. Save yourself a lot of grief and get the 'Pro' version that has its own microprocessor to handle the DMX generation.

Ovviamente fantastica e più piccola di come me la immaginavo (6x4x4). Viene spedito anche un cavo usb. Piccolo appunto: bisogna ricordarsi che in quanto "brainless device" ha bisogno che in ingresso vengano mandati i dati già protocollati, quindi non è utilizzabile con un programma che manda dati grezzi (Max MSP ad esempio). Nel mio caso la soluzione è stata mandarle i dati da un software compatibile (QLC+), che a sua volta riceveva le istruzioni dal primo programma menzionato. Spero che questo commento possa evitare sorprese a qualche altro Max user!

Works well, beware of the software compatibility. This adapter will work with the Open DMX protocol. Make sure the app you want to use can support Open DMX, we are a software business so we ended up needing to write our own piece of software to send out DMX from the Unity Game Engine.

I build escape rooms and software to run them - this beautiful thing connects perfectly to my PC and allows me to use a Unity based solution that runs the audio and lighting together. Originally I was having a gamesmaster control a lighting board and game software separately. I've not had any problems at all, and it's instantly improved the quality of the game, and ease of running it for our teams. Definitely using this for every project in future.
