UPDATE 8/27/19: Still love the remote. With occasional use and using two rechargeable AAA batteries, I get a good 3 to 4 months before having to recharge the batteries. The functionality and layout is fine, and for the money is a must have in my opinion (light years better than using the clunky PS4 controller to watch a movie). Still a solid 5 stars! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Note that I FULLY paid for this device with my own money and for my own use. I loved (and still love) my PS3, and have to admit the controller I used the most was the PS3 remote. I finally took the plunge and got a PS4, and of course I am finding myself continuing to use the device for more streaming than gaming. And of course the PS3 controller won't work (no reason for that except for a money grab, but so be it). So I decided to take the plunge and get this controller (after getting sick of recharging my PS4 controller every couple of days just to watch TV). Well, after a couple of months of use, I am COMPLETELY happy with the controller. It works just as good as the PS3 remote, and the batteries so far have not needed changing (I am using rechargeables anyway). The functions work great, and it has made TV streaming fun again. I don't like the button layout or ergonomics quite as much as the PS3 remote, but it is 90% as good in my book. In summary, this device is nice for the price and is a MUST HAVE if you will be doing streaming on your PS4.

I’d been using this with my PS5 and it’s been great! At first it seemed a little finicky but after a while I realize that after you press the PlayStation button to wake up the ps5, it takes a second for the ps5 to “realize” you’re trying to use a remote and not the controllers. It sounds weird but if you’ve used this remote with the ps5 you’ll understand. Beyond that tiny hiccup (which I’m not even sure is the remote tbh) it works seamlessly and it’s way more enjoyable watching tv and movies with this over the ps5 remote. I can’t comment on how it works with the ps4 as I’ve been using it exclusively to control my PS5. The only flaw in my eyes is that this remote can’t control TV volume. But I have a tv remote so it’s not the end of the world. Also I had the PDP Universal Remote for PS4 which did have volume buttons and it was kind of a pain in the neck to use. Like sometimes it worked fine and sometimes it didn’t. I think the simplicity of this device and the fact that it mirrors all the PS4/PS5 buttons saved the user experience. Anyway, if you absolutely have to have volume control for TV / PS5 then go get the newer version, but this one works great for control of just your streaming apps!

I've been using the remote for about 6 months. I use my PS4 as both a DVD/Bluray player and a streaming device. I use the remote at least 3 times a week, and recently every day. I am still using the first set of batteries I put in it, but the battery meter on the PS4 is down to 1 bar. The remote works well. The PS button will wake the PS4 out of rest mode or turn it on if it is powered off. It does most of what I want it to do. Some dislikes with the remote construction. 1) The buttons are flat and not very tall. I wish they were taller and more rounded, which would make navigating the buttons by feel much easier. 2) The "DPad" shoulder and face buttons are too close together. The "Dpad" is not very good either. I often hit a face button when I am trying to use the Dpad, the Dpad may be too sensitive too. I often go 2-3 spaces over in a menu when only trying to go one. Also sometimes I go up or down when I am trying to go left or right. I'd prefer a separate traditional dpad, or something more like the Amazon circular dpad. Some things I wish were possible with the remote which are possibly limited by the PS4 software or apps. 1) I wish there was a subtitle button to switch subtitles on and off without bringing up an onscreen menu. 2) I wish there were a disc or top menu button 3) I wish there were a stop button. 4) In some apps (e.g. WatchESPN) the FF, rewind, pause and play buttons don't work. You have to use the face buttons. I would have thought the FF, rewind, pause and play buttons were just mapped as additional face buttons, but apparently they are not. I hope when Sony designs the PS5 they take into account that many people use their consoles as Bluray players and streaming devices and design the software in a manner that allows for more fully functioning remotes. Having to bring up onscreen displays to perform simple tasks is annoying.

80% of the usage my ps4 gets is my girlfriend watching netflix, hulu, and amazon prime. she would always leave my controllers off the charger so they'd be dead when I went to play a game. This was the answer to my prayers. It's simple and no fuss about it. instead of using an IR blaster like a normal remote it uses bluetooth which is great because you don't get a lot of the hassles that you get with a normal tv remote. but because it uses bluetooth it would kill the batteries quickly which means that the remote shuts itself off after a brief time of inactivity. This doesn't mean much except that occassionally the response time on pressing "pause" is delayed 1 or 2 seconds because it has to wake back up and connect to the PS4 again. That's literally the only quirk it has but I would rather have it conserve battery like that then have to replace the battery every day. Really if you watch shows or movies on your PS4 frequently this is a must buy. It's cheap, easy, and not as troublesome as using a controller to watch tv (sometimes I would accidentally hit r2 and it would fast forward).

I’ve had this for a few week and so far it works great. I haven’t lost Bluetooth connection once and all buttons work great 1. I understand now that the remote has a “sleep mode” so sometimes when I haven’t pushed any buttons on it there’s an initial delay when it “wakes up.” 2. The center dial is a bunch of crowded buttons so you have to get used to pushing down with the tip of your thumb or you’ll hit two buttons at once 3. Construction quality is 7.5/8 out of 10. Def not bad and never feels like it’s going to break on its own but I’m not confident in dropping it into a hard floor. It has a nice weight when the double AA batteries are in. 4. All of the buttons are there. Even the share and options buttons. And no unnecessary buttons All in all I have no complaints. UPDATE: The delay and drag is starting to become more evident and more often. The drag gets bad to where I’ll push the left or right buttons and there will be a delay followed by the curser moving four spaces erratically.

I wanted a video controller that doesn't run through the controller battery as a movie is playing. I didn't know that my PS4 pro only can connect to two controllers at a time. I found that setup requires that I disconnect and have the system unregister one controller. Now if I run through a battery during play I can't immediately go to my backup controller to continue. I'm not sure if I'm missing an external update. Although I've let the download manager automatically decide when the latest needs to be updated. Anyway the remote works better than the play controller. Battery status lasts weeks. I use rechargable batteries. I lost use of a second play controller but I use the video streaming more than playing games. Multiplayer ability has been extinguished for now. Edit: found a video that allowed all three controllers to work I'm happy again.

Original Review: Like another reviewer said, buttons in the center are very close together, but after getting used to the orientation the user should be fine. Illumination would be nice as well for $24.99, but this does eliminate having to use the PS4 controller for playback. Pairs perfectly and right away, range is great, and the response time is super fast. It's not perfect, but it sure serves its purpose and gets the job done. UPDATED 2/27/19: So I had to buy another one of these remotes back in late September/early October 2018. The original I had purchased in August of 2017 stopped working completely and I figured it was just a fluke, maybe bad craftsmanship, so I bought another. While the original made it about a year, the most recent one literally just stopped working and is refusing to respond as I type this review. This remote didn't even last 6 full months. Originally I stood by this product and thought it was an excellent accessory for the PS4 - especially for people who use it for media - but now I have to say it is a poorly made unit and you should not waste your money. It appears I cannot make a return with Amazon, or even file for a replacement copy to be shipped to me. January 29th would have been the last day for that. Interesting timing... Either way, I wish I could recommend this, because it is quite useful when it works, but the potential drawbacks outweigh the usefulness and make it definitely not worth the 25 dollar asking price. Excellent Product At A Great Price For Navigating And Watching Movies On The PS4 Without All The Extra Unesesary Buttons And Girth Lenth Unless You’re Wanting A Universal One For All Of Your Devices And TV. Which I Don’t Really Use Or Need But If That’s What You’re Wanting I Suggest Not To Buy This One And The The Other Universal Model Both Work Great And Are Pretty Easy To Pair With You’re PS4 Console But If You Own Both You Can Only Use/Pair One At A Time However I Also Like This Model Because It Has The R1,R2,L1,And L2 Buttons On It Which The Multimedia Model Doesn’t So It Depends Based On You’re Preferences. I Own Both Of Them And They Both Are Pretty Good Remotes Overall But If You Don’t Want Or Feel The Need To Use The Same Remote To Controll All Your Devices In One Which Some TVs And Cable/Satellite Boxes Would Require Extra Buttons Which Might Not Be Available On The Universal Remote And Sometimes Can Be A Headache To Pair Or Program Them All With It Also! At Least That’s How I Feel About Those Universal Media Remotes! If You’re The Same I Would Buy This PS4 Cloud Media Remote! It’s Not Too Fancy Like The Other One But It’s Smaller And Not Like You’re Holding A Ruler And Doesn’t Have The Netflix’s, YouTube, etc Buttons On It Either But Really Aren’t Necessary Anyway! So Basically I Would Recommend This If You’re Looking For Just A Stand-alone PS4 Media Remote! But If You’re Looking To Do More Than Just Use One Remote With It You Should Buy The Other Universal PS4 Multimedia Model! Hope This Helps!

メディアプレーヤー操作のため、購入しました。 海外発送のようで、到着まで1週間程度かかりましたが無事に到着。 取説は日本語がないので、英語の説明で何とかペアリングできました。 ボタンはサークル状の部分に集約されていて、慣れるまでちょっと戸惑いますが、L2.R2の早送り巻き戻しシーク再生にも対応しているので、とても便利です。 サイズもコンパクトですし、耐久性が高ければ文句なしです。 2021年6月11日追記 他の方も書かれていましたが、電池の減りは早いです。

Great little remote. I was a bit concerned at first as many reviews said the arrow buttons were a bit hard to use. I have stubby fingers and I am able to use it with no problems at all. Its nice and compact. Does everything I need it to. Definitely a great buy.
