IBM Keyboards Work Again!
This works great with old IBM keyboards. I have a couple of genuine older IBM keyboards and wanted to use them on the newer systems that don't have the PS/2 interface.

If you love an old keyboard - buy this adapter.
Purchased to see if it would work for hooking up my 1998 version of a Kinesis Professonal QD Ergonomic keyboard. I only needed the keyboard PS2 connection. It is working just fine using its standard USB connection, to my Lenovo Windows 11 laptop's USB port. I am thrilled to be able to now use this Kinesis keyboard - in my experience the best keyboard for serious typing. New versions of this extreme ergonomic keyboard (Advantage 2) are almost $400, so purchasing this $17 adapterr was a no brainer!

Great way to revitalize old tech.
It works great. The only thing that I've noticed is that occasionally my connection between the keyboard and the PC resets sometimes. That is annoying when typing or gaming. Otherwise it's the perfect solution to being able to use older ps/2 keyboards with current PCs.

Quality product
You just have to appreciate a quality product in a place where most won't see it. Not many people use a PS/2 keyboard or mouse anymore, so most are not going to care about this, but if you do there are a LOT of USB to PS/2 converters out there. Unfortunately, many of them don't always work 100% which can be annoying to extremely frustrating. For example I purchase a Monoprice USB to PS/2 and it worked great until you went into the BIOS, then it just didn't work at all (only on a UEFI BIOS, legacy was fine). StarTech is known for quality product with these niche solutions, and this USB to PS/2 converter is no exception. It even feels and looks like a higher quality product, and it worked flawlessly in my scenario. Used with an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 PC. Can't recommend it enough if you need a USB to PS/2 converter.

Simple and works great
This product does exactly what it says. I connected my PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse to it, connected it to a USB port on my computer, and both were recognized and work just great. I tried it first with just a keyboard, so you don't need to have both connected for it to work. This product works with both my Windows Vista desktop (circa 2007) and my Windows 7 laptop (circa 2011). The light for the "Num Lock" turns off sometimes when I haven't been using the computer for a few minutes, but the number lock still works, and the light will turn back on if I click the "Num Lock" key twice. One reason that I'm very happy with this product is because it pairs great with the USB Switch Box that I bought to make a KM switch (KVM minus the "video" part). For years, I've wanted to share my keyboard and mouse between my desktop and a laptop (in it's docking station). That switch box only allows for one input, and the combination of this adapter and that switch work out perfectly for me. If you have a PS/2 mouse and/or keyboard that you want to use with a computer that doesn't support them, or if you want to go my route and connect them up to multiple computers with that USB switch box, I highly recommend this product.

Just What I Needed......
I got this as I have a lot of older KBs and mice that use PS/2 type connections but both my newer systems use USB type connectors and don't have PS/2 type so I couldn't use many of my older KBs with them. This adapter has a Y in it with one side being the KB and other side the mouse. They are labeled by a small raised icon of a keyboard side and a small raised mouse icon on the mouse side. It plugs directly in a standard USB port and gives you both mouse and KB with one adapter. I have a USB mouse but no USB keyboards except the ones that came with both the new computers and I wanted a back up just in case I needed it. Both of the adapters's plugs work fine, but I don't plan on using them for both the mouse and the KB at the same time as I've run into conflicts at times when one USB item or another were getting in each others way. (This as especially true when dealing with joystick and game pads.) What I have checked it out for is using the keyboard with it as this is where I feel I'll need it. It works well for this and I've not run into any thing that caused me a problem to this time, but as I said this was using the PS/2 style KB to USB port side. Overall not a bad adapter to have around!

StarTech comes through where another brand couldn't, lesson learned!!
I didn't think it would work as I had tried the C2G branded 27277 USB Male to PS/2 Female Adapter and it would do nothing, Windows 10 Pro would not even recognize it. I've bought other StarTech accessories and they have always worked as intended, but I thought Windows 10 just didn't like the old school mechanical rubber ball mouse I bought. Shouldn't have doubted StarTech because Windows 10 Pro immediately recognized and set it up and my new old school mechanical gaming mouse is working!! And it is very well made with a good heft to it and quality, thick cabling...well worth the money. Amazon did refund my monies for the other brand's adapter that didn't work.
