Hands Free!
This is the cool home automation device that started my TP-Link KASA Smart device fondness. I was looking for something that would sense human presence and light up key areas along the path so that we didn't have to bang into things trying to find the light switch. Along came the motion sensing light dimmer from TP-Link. It is easy to install, but does require the wiring of a neutral wire since it is electronic rather than a simple switch contact closure. Pairing it with the home WiFi network was easy, and it was up in no time. The cell app has the controls you want including, dimming, scheduling, timer, and more. At night I was able to set a low light level so that we don't get blinded with bright light when the light turns on from darkness. I also bought a 4 pack of wireless switches to control things that plug into an ordinary wall outlet. Then there came the plain wireless wall light switches for those times when we come home after dark, so that we can turn on the outside lights for safe passage to the home. And if that wasn't enough, they have RGB strip lights and ordinary RGB light bulbs. Those bring out the fun in wireless LED's! Once you have several of the devices wired and operational, you can form groups to turn on several of the individual devices together at the same time. And you don't have to be at home to control these things. The FREE account you create lets you remotely control all of your KASA devices from anywhere you have internet access.

Awesome product
Have had this installed for a few months now and it has not failed once. Installation was pretty simple if you know what you're doing and having a light switch that you can control from your phone is great. Now I can walk through the room with the light on and sit down at the tv or go to bed but still be able to turn the light off. The dimming feature needs a certain kind of light bulb because some of the bulbs I had tried would just flash on and off instead of dimming but that is a light bulb problem and not a problem with this.

Want an upgrade to you house?
So I thought the ones sent to was bad. So ordered from another big box store and they didn't work. The problem was that I was typing in the wrong 2.4 wifi password. Once I got past that, life is a lot lazier now. No need to turn the lights on manually. Voice commands to make it do what it do. So far, the dogs has not activated the lights and one of my dogs is 120 lbs. I will be adding more. The APP is ok. Some people Will need help with it.

Issues resolved - see review
Update: If the firmware gets updated on the switch you have to re-run the dimming calibration. Also to set the brightness to the last state (which how it should work out of the box in my opinion) is under the smart control tab --> edit rule --> set the brightness or have it go to last state Once i got this sorted it is working exactly as expected and much faster than my old setup that had a separate motion sensor. Now I can recommend the product. old review: Does not work with TAPO app for control - can not set dimming. When triggered by motion it comes on at 100% brightness instead of last state. Dimming function works great but the motion sensor overrides it. Overall do not buy as you could get cheaper motion sensor with just on/off as the dimming does not work with motion sensor.

Love the control on this light switch within the app
We had another motion sensor switch in our hallway leading to the master bedroom that seemed to be malfunctioning. It would come on at odd hours in the evening - terrifying. I saw this and have other plugs from this same brand that I love, so I purchased it to replace the bad switch. It seemed easy to install, and my husband installed it. I paired easily with my Kasa app, and I love that I have complete control over the way this switch works. I can control the brightness and how long it stays on after being activated. You can set up to 4 time schedules with different settings.

Yes! Been wanting this for a while!
This switch was one I've been waiting for. I have a variety of of brands of smart switches and other devices in my house. I have some from some major brand sold in home stores. So far The Kasa - TPLink switches have been not only the most reliable, but by far have been the most affordable for a quality switch. This brand has become my favorite. This switch had a neutral wire. It installed very easily. It came with paper stickers to flag wires, if you are into that. I tried doing setup from memory. It almost worked. I was stuck in a state where I couldn't enter my house wifi credentials. So I deleted it from the Kasa app, and followed the instructions. It worked great. I set the minimum brightness for 1% and added it to my Alexa list, and to my kitchen group. I named it's type as a light, to keep it simpler for Alexa. It works perfectly! I highly recommend. Now I can ask Alexa to turn the light on if it times out. I have 12 LED's in my kitchen, and this switch controls only 4 of them. This way I have some light when I enter, and I can command the rest of the lights on if I want. Very happy. Very fair price.

Bad at motion detection, good dimmer & smart switch
I'm a big fan of kasa, I've used their dimmers, smart outlets, power strips, plugs, and lights for years with minimal to no issues. This things however is awful as a motion detector, the dimmers functionality is great similar to their other dimmers. I use these in my garage and the amount of times that it shuts off even though I am moving around is very frustrating. No matter what setting I put the sensitivity of the motion sensor it does not help anything. I've had these for over a year and the motion sensor is so bad that I've resorted to just turning that feature off and just using it as a switch. It's also frustrating that you can't adjust how long the lights stay on after it dectects movement and before it turns off. I wish there was an option to make them stay on longer because of the terrible sensor it's very common for them to come on, then fail to detect movement and turn off in like 30-60 seconds and then for it to come back on shortly after it dectects movement again. I don't recommend this product as what's it's advertised to do, it is basically just the dimmer switch with a useless montion sensor

yes, Yes, YES!!!
I've purchased many motion/occupancy sensors. A lot of them are crap. I've only had this one installed for a week, but I'm totally in on it. While it's a 'smart' dimmer and integrates with Alexa, you really won't care about that functionality. However, the 'smart' tech (Smart Control) that Kasa has integrated into this and it's app makes it absolutely fantastic. You can set periods during the day with differing brightness. For example, set it to only come on at 20% anytime between 10pm and 5am, or at 100% at all other times, or don't come on at all if there's ambient light. The motion sensor works great and allows multiple options for turning off when no motion is detected (ex. 10 sec.). Ramp rate for these automated settings is the same for all periods, but that's ok. It is the absolute perfect solution for bathrooms, laundry rooms, closets, etc. Anywhere an occupancy sensor will come in handy. I paired this with the Kasa HS200P3 to control the ceiling fan in the powder room and it looks/works great.
