Borderlands #2: Unconquered

All in all, a FANTASTIC read. If Im right, I think this takes place after Borderlands 1 and before 2. This book gives a great feeling of just how visceral Pandora is. From ripping out hearts to drowning an enemy in a puddle of waste- this book definitely tells a different story of the world than the toned down version the games had. The new main characters- Daphne and Gynella are more than worthy of the universe. If you thought Jack was a cruel guy, Gynella is right there with him, maybe even colder. As for Daphne, I personally wish she got more focus time. Her backstory is so rich she deserves her own book, but they tell deep background on both and do a good job of explaining why they each came to Pandora. The prologue and epilogue are a bit cheesy but they were done purely as fan service, other than that the book is perfect. Even if you havent read The Fallen, this book is a standalone title- you wont miss out on anything but a few (2-3) vague references; It also works well as an intro to the Universe, even if you havent played the games.

I was kinda surprised at this book, usually books based on games or movies never really live up to expectation. This book has a decent story mixed with a lot of violence filled action and a lot of humor. I've noticed there are a lot of books on kindle based on the borderland franchise, and I will be reading more of them. I would recommend this book to action fans who like over the top action, but don't expect a hard drama. This book doesn't take itself to seriously, but does manage to be entertaining. 4 stars for having a good enough story, while still being fun! Thank you T.C. McDonald

Actually pretty good. Couldve been more relevant to the games and couldve been less aimed at young people (aka couldve been much more adult, especially given the game it comes from) but not bad.

Of the three novels this one is the best, I think. It has the most iconic players in the game and just everything that you see in the games. The dialogue is hysterical.

I've tried playing the Borderlands games, but the sticky controls and surprisingly difficult enemies burned me out. I like the world, though, so I decided to read one of the books. It was well written and fun. I may try the games again, but if I don't, at least there are the books.

I chose this rating because I have played and finished both Borderlands 1 and 2 both of witch were good and the book gives a different story line however still good.What I did not like about it is that there is to many introductions of characters off the start.I would not recommend this book for children under 13

I just love the video games. And this, the second book is even better than the first. A great read. Recommend it for fun and if your a fan of the video game, this is a must!!!

Though it is a fair representation of the nature of Pandora, Unconquered is a written representation of a FPS. If you are looking for that I'd suggest just ploaying the game. Just not as engaging as Borderlands #1 as it focuses on the main characters from the first game, who will aleways survive, no matter what perils they face.

I haven't had a chance to read this yet as it was a present for someone else, although I'm sure I will eventually. The book looks good however, and is thicker than I expected it to be, so is obviously not just a short tale that has been quickly threw together. From the cover I expected it to be centered around Mordecai, although from reading the back of the book it suggests otherwise. The order was sent to a collect+ address even though it was not eligible and subsequently went missing, but Amazon were quick to resolve this, sending out my items again once not received, free of charge and next day delivery, so I am very pleased with the service too.

....mit Borderlands hat das nur dem Namen nach zu tun. Es kommt einem so vor, als ob irgendwer da einfach eine sehr lange Fanfiction geschrieben hätte. Was gehört normalerweise zu Borderlands? Humor, schräge Missionen, komische Charaktere, rohe Gewalt...Was gibts? Gewalt! Ja, okay, es basiert noch auf dem ersten Teil und dessen Protagonisten - aber muss es so...ähm...ernst sein?Geschichte:Roland, SC aus Borderlands, möchte sich zur Ruhe setzen und dafür eine Mine mit irgendwas ausheben, ist aber nur ein McGuffin. Da muss er aber erst durch das Banditenlager von Gynella, die einfach einen Haufen der norm-Gegner von Borderlands mit einer Art Sex-Droge unterjocht. Wozu? Auf einem so gut wie leeren Planeten ein Heer von inkompetenten Verrückten beschäftigen? Die nicht mal Eridium abbauen können/wollen und kaum zu kontrollieren sind? Egal. Es geht um schießen! Zur Seite stehen ihm Mordecai und Brick aus dem ersten Teil, Lillith ist irgendwie weg, interessiert auch scheinbar niemanden, dafür haben wir den weiblichen Setup-Charakter für den zweiten Teil, Daphne. Ja, was passiert sonst? Sie fahren herum, schießen auf Leute, entkommen mit ihrem Leben, fahren rum, erschießen Leute, werden gefangen genommen, töten viele Leute. Ja. Plot? Überraschungen? Ne.Charaktere:Zugegeben, es gibt nicht viel, worauf man hätte achten müssen, denn es gibt in BL1 so gut wie keinen Plot und kaum Charaktertiefe für die 4 SCs, das bleibt auch so. Roland ist halt der militär-typ, Mordecai ist der Scharfschützen Typ, der aus unerfindlichen Gründen auf einmal als Zwerg beschrieben wird, der kleiner ist als eine kleine Frau, Brick, der Tank, der ziemlich doof ist und dann eben Daphne, die überraschend kompetent ist, aber irgendwie nicht viel Tiefe zeigt. Sie hat Motive, sie hat irgendwie Ziele und die erreicht sie, punkt.Ja, das wars auch schon. Es gibt hier nicht viel zu lesen oder zu sagen. Ach ja: um es mehr Borderlands-mäßig zu machen werden immer wieder Namen von den generischen Banditengegnern eingebaut, auch wenn es nicht besonders passend ist und unmotiviert wirkt. Ob uns jetzt interessiert, ob da jetzt Marauder oder ein Bruiser kommt, ist im Grunde egal, sie werden einfach abgknallt, weil die Helden so viel Glück haben und sind nur Kanonenfutter.2 Sterne, weil es wenigstens irgendwie eine Unterhaltung geboten hat, aber es war enttäuschend, kann man sich auch als Borderlandsfan sparen. Kein Witz, keine ausgefallene Story, kein gar nichts. Man hätte sooooooo viel tun können! Aber nein! Nur langweiliges Massengeballer.

Really good book I enjoyed it

Der Produktzustand des Buches wurde als gebraucht / sehr gut beschrieben. Das war wohl auch eine, in diesem Lande üblichen, "alternativen Fakten". Angefangen von knittrigem Einband, abgeschabten Kanten sowie vergilbten Seiten gab es nichts, was diese Klassifizierung rechtfertigte.
