Is the thumb stud on both sides of the blade? I want to make sure this works well for left-handed opening.

Yes. I have mine sitting here right next to me and it does indeed have thumb studs on both sides. It's the least expensive knife I own, yet I carry it with me daily! GREAT EDC knife!
