Sora R3000 2 x 9-Speed Brake/Shift Lever Set

I've recently moved all my components from a 12 year old road bike to a new frame. This included a Tiagra drive train. The Tiagra brifters work fine, but were looking a little beat up and I wanted something with a more modern look. 2 things I really like is 1. The cable routing(all under the bar tape and not sticking out the side of the shifters). 2. The lack of the gear indicator windows that are present on the older Tiagra units. These just look sleeker and more modern. The install went very smooth. From research prior to buying these, I thought I may have to replace my front derailleur. This was not the case. With a little tweaking and tuning it is currently working fine with the older Tiagra front derailleur. I actually also purchased a Sora front mech, but haven't bothered to install it. They worked flawlessly with the old Tiagra rear derailleur. Zero issues. I had also read that the brake pull was different on these compared to the older controls. I'm actually using cantilever brakes and I had no difficulties getting them to work as expected. Installation went fine. If you do your own work on your bike(s) I'd say it's about medium difficulty. If not experienced, you may seek the assistance of a bike mechanic. I've been using these for a couple months now and I think they are great upgrade if you want to modernize an older 9 speed bike.

I purchased the Sora R3000 shifters because I wanted to clean up my bars. Sora shifters allow for internal routing of shifting and brake cables. The other bike currently has the Shimano 105 gear set. these shifters feel just as good as my 105's at a much lower price.

Looks like the 2014 105’s on my other bike. It shifts great and made my older bike looks clean and “newer” with the integrated shifter cables.

Good replacement on an old 9 speed setup.

Great product. Easy installation and the cables to change out the old.

I installed these with new derailleurs on a Trek Domane. When releasing tension on the rear cassette, shifting into higher gears, sometimes the release lever just misses, it does nothing. It has to 'catch' and then I can shift again. The front seems ok, but the take-up seems 'off'. I've had a really hard time adjusting it. I've used other Sora shifters that were much better. I must have gotten a bad set... Good luck.
