Very handy tool for PLC people
I wish i knew about this tool a long time ago.Dragging a laptop everywhere i need to configure Ethernet IP nodes was a real pain. With this tool that is no more.Thank you to the creators.

Works great with Rockwell and other devices
Waaaay better than BootP. You are done before BootP can find it. ( if it can find it….)

Incredibly Useful
The main function of this device is to more easily commission new Ethernet/IP nodes on an industrial controls network. All of its' functions can be performed by a laptop with the right software, but having a convenient, hand-held device that boots up in seconds, with software that always works and isn't subject to conflicts with windows settings and other ethernet adapters is invaluable. But that's not all it's good for.Something I run into in the course of my work is coming up to a control system where I need to set an IP address on my PC but don't know which addresses are free. With this device, I can browse the network and see what addresses are being used, ensuring my laptop doesn't cause a conflict on the network. It also downloads basic information from each device, such as the manufacturer, part number, and firmware revision. The only issue I had was trying to set a Micrologix 1400 IP address to static after I had changed it with the device. Every time I tried it resulted in failure. It turns out, however, that the Micrologix 1400 does not support having this setting changed remotely, so it's not the device's fault as this would fail with Allen-Bradley's own BOOTP-DHCP software as well.

It works
Had this for a few years and it's paid for itself multiple times over. A better price may be available from the manufacturer. For BOOTP/DHCP it's a lifesaver. It works, first time, every time. I tried all the other software-based solutions for BOOTP and they didn't work. I plugged this in and within a few seconds the device was up and running.Need to know what's on the wire? Plug this in and select "read unknown". A few seconds later every device found starts showing up in the list. The new version allows you to use the up/down buttons to scroll through the list.

Worth its weight in gold for the time it saves
Need to very quickly set up a DHCP device to work on a system with no DHCP server? This is the tool.Need to find out what IP address a device is set to so you can access it? This is the tool.It has additional functionality which I don't need / use but that's no problem.Whilst on the face of it, these two functions can be performed with a laptop running the right software, the speed and simplicity of doing it with a battery operated handheld device (with a one second boot-up time) has made my life a a TV broadcast engineer so, so much easier.Worth every single penny. Surprisingly small - will absolutely fit into any pocket. Weighs next to nothing. Battery life must be in the region of six or eight hours of constant use. There's not really anything that I'd change about it.
