Insane sound detail - like hearing songs for the first time again
As someone who spends a lot of time at their desk listening to music, I decided to buy these as I've heard beyerdynamics before and though I should give it a try. At first, they sounded a bit lacklustre, they didn't have the thumping bass I was used to and I started wondering if maybe my motherboard couldn't support them to their full ability. I was wrong, very wrong It takes a bit of time to adjust to the sound profile of these, but once it clicks, it HARD. You start hearing sounds in music that you've never heard before, it completely transformed how I looked at music. I used to love bass that made my headphones shake, but now, i love hearing the intricate details of the instruments and melodies. The cable is really long and thick, its really sturdy and means you never struggle routing it to your device. I have tried these while gaming and they deliver, if you're into games like call of duty where there's deep bass thats needed for the full effect, these wont do that (without a dac/amp), but they will keep the audio crisp and clean. However, in open world games, RPG's and horror games, they don't underperform at all. it is absolutely worth the price if you value audio quality, or want to start valuing audio quality. Also the black earpads are such a clean aesthetic, they don't break up the colour scheme like the white ear cup ones do.

Professional quality headphones
As would be expected from the brand, quality and performance are exceptional in these top-end headphones. Equally impressive however are the everyday features and attention to detail that are so often ignored in other phones, like the large round ear cups that totally cover the ears and clamp onto the head, with none of the discomfort (even pain!) caused by small cups that clamp onto the ears themselves. Headphones that completely cover the ears are essential in my view, minimising external sound interference, unwanted noise and sound distortion. One minor feature that I am particularly pleased about is the relatively tight headband adjustment - once set, it stays in its chosen position with little or no chance of being inadvertently knocked out of kilter. The phones have a nice long lead, too. Small details, but it all adds to the "quality of life"! All in all, an extremely well-built item that is lightweight and very robust.

Good quality, and comfortable to wear for long periods.
Feels durable and of good quality. It is comfortable to wear for long periods of time and has an adjustable headband allowing it to fit most people comfortably. The sound quality is good as well. The only downside of this, is that the cable is fixed to the headphones so you must make sure that you treat it with care as not to damage the cable - but they do sell replacement parts for pretty much everything including the cable for those who have the capability to replace it themselves. Great value overall.

Headphones that produce sound
Use these for mixing and mastering, not sure how long ago I bought them but i've quite literally had them for years and never had any quality issues or deterioration. Affordable and what I needed to get started in music, but I do need more variety and range, more headphones the better.

Absolutely brilliant headphones with quality sound and excellent comfort
These headphones were my first step into the hifi headphone world. Coming from a line of gaming headsets "designed for comfort", I was skeptical of how comfortable these would be, despite any improvement in sound. These headphones are extremely comfortable. Big round ear cups, so even the biggest ears won't be cramped. Soft covers on the cups and the headband. Very light and good height adjustment for the ears - should fit any head. It's a shame the cable isn't removable, as I expect it'll be the first part to wear over time (I run over it with my chair quite often). However the removable and replacable leather band along the top is a great feature as that will surely wear out as well. I have noticed the adhesive on the stickers on the side of the ears, where they say "DT 770 PRO LIMITED EDITION 80 OHM", is becoming loose and the ends are flicking up around the curve. They aren't becoming so loose that they're peeling off entirely, however - just on the very ends. The quality of sound I'm getting from these headphones are amazing, even when just sticking the 3.5mm jack in a phone and playing spotify. I have never had a moment where I needed to take them off due to poor sound quality or poor comfort. They are also pretty comfy when lying down with them on, however the size can make them less comfortable if you have a harder pillow that doesn't accomodate them. Inside the box is a 3.5mm-6.35mm adaptor (screw on) and a drawstring bag. The bag is a nice addition, however it does feel cheap compared to the headphones themselves. I would definitely recommend checking out one of Beyerdynamic's hard cases available for roughly ยฃ20 as they would provide much better protection for the headphones while in bags or generally on the move. If you turn up the sound settings on the computer or phone, these headphones can kick a serious punch, possibly even replacing some cheap speakers if you leave them on the desk with something propping them open. However when they're on your head, or closed on the desk there is very little sound leaking, even at the higher volumes. I normally leave Windows sound settings at 15% for a comfortable volume. Overall, no real problems with these headphones after using them every day for 5+ hours minimum for nearly 8 months. I see these lasting a very long time, despite being fairly careless with them at times.

Great, and a bit better than they used to be
I used to have DT 880 Premium. The differences I noticed, besides these being a closed back heaphones with less airy feel and more punchy bass (as expected) are: - much nicer cable, soft and flexible, the plasticky feel is gone - much smaller thread for the 6.25 adapter, so the jack looks neater, less bulky without it on - replaceable headband (and you'll want it replaced at some point, trust me) - all black appearance, including the earpads, looks kinda cool - 80 Ohm impedance; I had 250 Ohm of 880s and it was hard to drive with consumer devices. Now, I'm using these with the latest macbook pro with its support for high impedance headphones and Scarlett 2i2, as well as SMSL C200 DAC, so... not consumer either, but I find that with the former two they provide just enough juice to the heaphones at the maximum volume level, where it's loud but not too uncomfortable. Meaning I'd have a hard time driving the 250 Ohm version of 770s with those. Seems like 80 Ohm is the sweet spot. I didn't want to go down to 32 Ohm sensitivity either because from experience with lesser quality DACs, you would hear some hiss when no sound is playing. Comfort wise they are the same as I remember them. Could wear them for hours. And the sound signature with clear mids and crispy highs gives this feeling of unfatiguing clarity which works especially well for singer-songwriter stuff, ASMR, guitar, violin. All without sacrificing bass, so rock, EDM and movies still sound great, just not as good as with some other headphones that are better for that purpose. Passive noise cancellation is poor because of low clamping force and the comfy velour earpads. But these are bulky and with a 3m cable, so it's unlikely you're buying these for commuting anyway. Speaking of earpads, as comfy as they are, I found that I'd want them replaced every 1.5 years or so. That will greatly depend on how much you use them of course and what you consider acceptable in terms of looks and padding. So, naturally, it's best to know what you're buying these for... but you're unlikey to be disappointed with these.

Absolutely stunning
I'm obsessed with music and a big fan of VST instruments since 1999. So I can say now I'm an expert now at the age of 38. The most important thing about the DT770 PRO is it's clarity on the high end and a smooth and not exhausting bass response. I believe beyerdynamic nailed the frequency response and sensitivity on this 80 OHM version. My biggest debate before I bought this was "is it enough on its own?" The answer is YES You don't need any AMP or an audio interface to drive it and enjoy the 80 OHM version. Works perfectly with my Galaxy S9 phone (I don't have to use any EQ enhacements every song sounds amazing and balanced) I have a Gigabyte B550 motherboard PC with Realtek HD soundcard and it is perfect (even I have to turn my main volume down sometimes it is that loud) I bought this with a behringer MODEL D analog synth module and again the clarity and detail in sound is amazing I don't have experience with more expensive headphones but trust me coming from various general "bluetooth" headphones or sub ยฃ100 ones like the ยฃ80 range MPOW or SONY or JVC or Phillips or "BEATS Studio" or the famous ATH-M50x this DT 770 PRO is a far better choice. It is very comfortable feels kind of like a gentle pillow it sticks to your head but without feeling any pressure so you can wear it 5+ hours without feeling any pressure. It is perfect for gaming as well compared to my previous headphones I tried with Fortnite (yes I'm a weirdo I'm addicted to Fortnite at the age of 38) you can hear clearly if somebody is above you or underneath you in game with "3D Headphones" turned on in game yes this headphone is not a 3D one but it's clarity on the high end makes a huge difference compared to regular gaming headsets. The only thing everybody has to keep in mind is that the cable is not removable and it has a long one. So the way I'm using it is it has 3 cable ties when you unbox it so I kept them on and I set a specific length for the cable which I feel comfortable moving around with so the cable length will never be an issue for me. I highly recommend the 80 OHM version it is absolutely stunning compared to those BOSE "boomy" bass headphones this one is smooth and will not kill your ears if you are using it for hours.

Comfort, Clarity, and Build Quality That Stand Out
I just picked up the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm Limited Edition and Iโm really impressed. The first thing I noticed was the comfort. The velour pads are super soft and I can wear them for hours without any pressure or heat. Sound-wise, theyโre very clear with good bass that doesnโt muddy everything else. Iโve used them for music, and some mixing, and they perform great in all situations. They also feel solid and well-built, like theyโll last a long time. Noise isolation is surprisingly good even without ANC. Overall, theyโve exceeded my expectations and Iโm really happy with the purchase.

Absolutely Phenomenal!
I am a professional voice over artist and these 80-ohm headphones are by-far the best quality & sound I have ever experienced in 45 years of work! The quality of the sound is unmatched and the range from highs to lows is incredible. Music as well as instrumentals as well as vocals are the absolute best you could expect. The noise cancellation is about 97% which is awesome. The build on the headset is wonderful. I had a set of Burl Wood Elites that were as good but very heavy on the head. Those cost in the thousands. This model from Beyerdynamic brings the 2-thousand-dollar quality into an affordable product. The weight is perfect. Not too heavy and not too light. I use mine on average 8 hrs. per day 6x a week, so product weight is a big factor. Trust me, these are easy to use for the entire day! The muffs are so incredibly comfortable due to the velour covers and the actual ear-to-speaker distance (inside the ear cover) ratio. Your ears will not get crushed with these. The cord is plenty long enough for mobility in the studio or simply wound up for desk duty. The dual plug capabilities are very convenient for various equipment needs (amps, compressors, etc.). I give these headphones a true 5* and then some. HIGHLY recommend.

Break-in period?
...If you want to read, I didn't mind writing to you fellow enthusiast's, with something that hopefully helps. (if your experience has been similar to mine, with these 770's) So, I am conflicted with this idea (or should I say, confused) with reading reviews on these 770's (80's) stating they need a period of time to break-in to sound good? Before I get into this experience, it's important to share that I have spent a good and fair amount of time "researching" personal experiences from others regarding these headphones, comparing specs, pro's, con's, application resistance, etc. I have compared to many other brands that all fit in that affordable (but generous price point) between $180 - $300 that offer good sound, durability, comfort and value. Without actually test driving in a store, I relied on the online world hoping for a positive result by choosing the right headset for my desired sound quality and use. My use is mainly home use, listening to prerecorded music of all kinds, from Metal to Jazz on a home stereo receiver, a quite powerful and clean producing harman kardon to be specific. My receiver delivers excellent sound quality (and not lacking in power), with very clean frequency. After being convinced these 770's (with an 80 ohm resistance) was the right medium that may be used with a PC and / or power receiver, I pulled the trigger on a set. Many reviewers compared the same design, closed back headsets, in this price range (without mentioning all the other "compared" brands that do not, did not, seem to measure up to what these 770's deliver) and this headset seems to beat them all. Ok, lets give them a try!? Next important point, I listen loud! I like deep base, clear mids and sharp highs, which with heavy ROCK, all music is prerecorded differently and some bands F*** it up all together.. (Metallica, ST Anger, O...and, and Justice for All, the sub driver destroyer, HA!) ...so, I am understood not any one headset is going to please the ears with every genre..however, I am looking for just a good "all-rounded" quality headset that at least have the capability to reach the frequency's, I will adjust volume and frequency's accordingly, depending on what my playback is. Distortion, obviously, is not acceptable. Finally, delivered, plugged them in to finally hear what "everyone"?? ...has been saying about them...that they are awesome delivering deep base, very clear mids and highs. Ya, I was SOLD on pages of reviews and seems only a few complained (slightly negative experience, which is to be expected with any product, but compared to the others, these 770's have them all beat!) ....so after plugging in, I put just a little bit of power to them, my first reaction was, WTF is this! F****** HORRIBLE sound,...distortion at a super low volume, the bass (for the little that was barely existent "farted out" the mids and highs terribly, even the vocals. This headset delivered crap! Farted out distortion, at LOW volume. (In comparison, I have a set of SONY's (MDR V-150's) that have been through a war! They have been punching, kicking, screaming, dropped, pulled, beer soaked, abused in every way you can abuse a headset for 15 years now and they still sound EPIC compared to these 770's?? I was not giving up, I refused the sound that was being delivered. I tried about 6 different genre's of music, adjusted volume, bass (all frequency's), started checking connections, my source equipment, etc. The sound was complete distortion without even putting any juice to them. Disappointed, to say respectfully. These 770's are absolute garbage, OR...they may perhaps be defected. That was my final diagnosis after checking every sound delivering source component and connection, this headset must be defective. There is NO way, all of those reviewers are wrong. Back online, to research ONLY foul reviews regarding these 770's...and what I found was this, they need a break in period? Some consumers, having the same experience as I have. Some, re-packaging and sent back, to receive another set with the exact same "issue" (fart producing punch with a side of painful all frequency distortion) I am not sold on the break-in idea, that any headset needs to "run" to break-in to produce good sound. The drivers need to loosen up? Seriously? Nope. Sorry, not accepting this BS. I can accept that they are just a S*** headset and will not fill my listening needs, that is more possible than a headset that needs a drive around the block to run on all cylinders.... but, ok, I will surrender my common sense.... lets test this theory. My only option is sending them back so I will give them this break-in "requirement". ...just another side note; The only other thought I had was, I am having trouble accepting that a crap product has come from German manufacturing (electronic engineering and production) from Germany has and always was, above many electronic products (among many other different German products) regarding quality, durability, SOUND, etc. German engineering has always been excellent, (my experience) which was just another reason I purchased these 770's, boasting that they are in fact, made in Germany. A close runner to Germany has also been Japan.... but ya, that one fact also contributed selling me on this headset ....anyway, my method of breaking in these 770's. I gave them 48 hours. I plugged in a steady stream of music through my hk receiver, plugged in the 770's. I left them at a forgiving volume (not cranked) ...just at a low listening volume, all day, all night, while I was at work, while I was sleeping, just on for a straight 48 hours (low volume and flat frequency's so I would not over-heat and damage the headset). Every 12 hours, I changed the genre music channel to run different music frequency's and styles, one day even just a "nature" sound stage. ...then finally, a moment of truth!!?? Am I keeping these or sending back with a foul review? Result, astounded! These 770's are a completely different animal now....producing an incredible, clean and low end frequency (NOT disturbing ALL of the other mids and high's any more, at all! I am reaching a volume now that is nearly double what I started out with only a week ago with a decent low end, clean as can be mids and sweet, sharp high's. The vocals are incredibly defined. They are like listening to a 3 way speaker with a separate sub....kind-of what my original expectations were. It's been a hard pill to swallow, that any headset needs a good amount of steady juice run through them before sounding, good, but I have to surrender my common sense has been challenged and defeated, in this regard. Yes, a long story to explain to get to this point, however, from my experience starting off with these, I hope (and felt) this explanation needs to be told and understood in the right context, especially if you have received this headset, had the same disappointment, and decided to return before... doing perhaps just what your 770's need....some run in time to punch out the drivers a little bit, so they can actually "PRODUCE" and deliver a pleasurable sound experience. Give the break in theory a try, before re-packaging and returning. It was, ALL my 770's needed. Now, wow! Just wow! Celebrating my patience and my defeated cynical opinion today!

One of the best closed-backs I've tried at this price.
For a couple years I've had a pair of Sennheiser 598Cs, which are ... okay headphones ... not amazing ... and I was looking to upgrade to something a little better recently. I ended up getting a pair of Monolith 1060C closed-back planar magnetic headphones, and I love 'em, BUT, they are utterly gigantic and you look absurd wearing them in public, so they were designated to the home studio solely. (They're also nearly twice the price of these.) I'd had very positive experiences with my Beyerdynamic DT990s, so I decided to try the Beyerdynamic Avenos. I couldn't tell you how those are, because I think I got a dud, the sound was absolutely terrible. I've heard they're normally great. But the 770s are, again, nearly half the price of those, so I decided to try them out instead. I'm very happy I did. A brief tangent to help you get up to speed about the trio of Beyerdynamics in this category, which are the DT770s/880s/990s. I've researched and used all three of them ... the main thing to understand is that they are all pretty much the same exact thing, fundamentally. The 770s are closed-backed and don't come with a case; the 880s are open-backed and do come with a case; and the 990s are semi-open backed and don't come with a case, but have a "coiled" cable that can reach much farther than the other two. (The 880s are probably considered "semi"-open as well, but they let a lot more sound in/out than the 990s do, so I consider them the "open-backed" version of the three in practice). The 990s and 770s are said to have a slightly more "V-shaped" EQ profile (which is neither a good or bad thing, it just depends on your preference or intended usage). Design-wise, the 880s are the lightest and arguably the best looking at a quick glance -- however, to my surprise, they actually are the cheapest feeling of the bunch, in terms of the build quality, the most like a toy. The cups seem a pretty cheap plastic and the headband feels cheaper and flakier than that of the 990s or 770s, and does not secure the extending arms as well. The 990s and 770s, in contrast, have a little more weight to them, and a better headband. I think that pretty much covers all the noticeable differences. All three models come with kind of dated looking, unattractive velour pads ... I recommend replacing those out the gate with something like Brainwavz pleather or micro-suede round or XL replacement pads ... they're better looking, more comfortable, and create a better seal than the velour pads do. Anyway, at some point I'll review the 880s and 990s on their own, but their sound quality was very good, much better than the Sennheisers and almost as good as the Monolith 1060Cs (arguably as good in some scenarios), so I finally decided to just try a pair of the 770s for public use since they're the only closed-back model. While generally well-reviewed, I was a little concerned of reports that the 770s lacked the soundstage of the 880s/990s and performed a bit weak in the treble arena. These proved to be non-issues for me and I'm extremely happy with them. While it's true that the soundstage (which refers to the illusion of "space" around the sound, as if you're hearing the music live, vs. it being concentrated right in your head) is less dramatic than the 880s/990s, it's about as good as you could ever hope for with closed-back cans in this price range, and becomes EXCELLENT when paired with the right audio equipment or software. On-the-go I'm using them with an iPhone X, running the JetAudio App, with custom EQ and some of its other special features enabled. That app costs a few bucks, but it's worth it, as it is vastly superior to iTunes if you really want to get the most out of headphones like these. If you have a good ear and spend a little time experimenting and tuning this audio app, man can it bring these babies to life, especially if your music files are .FLAC/.ALAC. Even out the gate the DT770s put the Sennheiser 598Cs more or less to shame, but once I got JetAudio running, it was just night and day, and the soundstage now easily equals that of the 990s I use at home. I didn't personally have any issue with the trebles in my initial tests -- I feel like the sound overall is probably exactly the same as the 990s but just without a semi-open back -- but with the custom EQ in JetAudio I was able to tease some noticeable extra crispness and punch out of the trebles anyway. All in all, listening to my music through my mobile device has just become a much bigger pleasure. I like the sound of the 770s (and 880s and 990s) very much -- the clarity and imaging and detail across the EQ spectrum is very good, and the deepest basses and highest trebles register audibly. Another plus of the 770s is that they have good isolation, with minimal sound leaking in or out while you wear them -- noticeably better than either my Monolith 1060Cs or my Sennheiser 598Cs. And they are comfortable to wear. So I recommend the DT 770s highly, and think they are a great value at this price point. There are a few minor issues to be aware of though. One, as I mentioned earlier, while certainly optional, I think you'll find it worthwhile to upgrade the stock earpads to something like Brainwavz XL. Better comfort, better sound seal, better looking too. So that's another $30 or so. Two ... I am reviewing the 80 ohm impedence model (32 and 250 are also available). Higher impedence tends to be a "good" thing for sound quality, as I understand it, but the higher the impedence, the harder the headphones are to "drive" (you need to crank the volume knob a lot more for 80 ohm cans than for 32 ohm cans). In practice, on my iPhone X, I have to turn the volume up to just-shy-of-absolute-maximum to get what I would consider a decent loudness. This can be remedied with a decent headphone amplifier, but those aren't super cheap and require research unto themselves to get the most out of ... so, if you are going to use these straight from a mobile device, the 32 ohm might be the way to go. I've never compared the 32 vs. 80 ohm directly, but from what I've read on forums and the like, the difference in terms of sound quality is negligible. Three, while comfy on the head, they aren't comfortable to wear casually around the neck ... they don't fold and the clamp is too unyielding to wear them that way. This was a slight disappointment. Also, the cord is long to the point of being kind of awkward and unwieldy. Since these are the closed-back model of the bunch, it would have been nice if Beyerdynamic had made them a little more "portable-friendly" in their design. A detachable/replacable cable also would have been nice. End of the day, though, I'd be surprised to find another pair of closed-backs you can get at this price that are superior to these, so I'm sticking with 5 stars despite a couple minor design quibbles. I've rambled on quite a bit here, but I know from my own experiences that researching and choosing headphones can be an exhausting undertaking, so I hope someone finds all this info helpful.
