Absolutely love this book
Absolutely love this book. We have had our baby Boston Terrier for about 4 months and this gave us excellent and clear insight on the breed's key personality traits and how to work with them. I enjoyed reading the valuable experience and tips from other professional breeders and owners. The book provided excellent caveats to help you avoid immoral puppy mills, explains how to find a good breeder, how to test the puppy's temperament while you're there selecting the puppy (crucial for picking the dog that's right for you), offers training advice, feeding/care/socialization how-to's... how to identify and deal with aggression, and so on. It even touches on health issues with the breed, and arms you with knowledge you should have BEFORE going to the vet. (In my experience, the author knows more about the breed than any vet I've seen knows about Bostons. No joke.) The information in this book is invaluable, and answers all the questions my husband and I have had regarding raising our puppy. I can honestly say that if I were to recommend one book to someone looking to bring a Boston Terrier into their house, this is THE book. No other one has been as insightful, informative or descriptive as The Boston Terrier Handbook.

Great guide for new Boston lovers!
This is a great book, introducing Boston Terriers to newbies! I ordered this book for my husband, when we adopted his first young Boston. I have previous experience with this wonderful breed. His only experience was with my old man Bosty, when we were dating. My guy was super laid back and mellow, he was also around 10-11 years old at the time. Our new girl is around one year old, so a completely different dog! She is full of energy, very vocal, and has a "nipping" and jumping problem with him. She just wants to play and is being mouthy and hyper. He kept asking why she never does it to me! That's why I got him this book. Him reading it helps better than me just telling him. He is starting to understand her a little bit better. He loves her, and she adores him, they just have to learn each other a bit better. I am grateful for this book, it's almost like getting pregnancy and child rearing books with your first human child. I think it's no different than when getting you first puppy.Totally recommended!

All Boston Terrier Parents-Must Read!
I have just finished reading The Boston Terrier Handbook. We just brought home our new Boston Terrier last weekend. This book is the canine equivalent of the “What To Expect” series for expecting and new parents-it tells you everything you need to know. The Boston Terrier Handbook is well written, informative, historical, and entertaining. I read the book in about a week, cover to cover. I am so glad I did. It was a great read, and a great source for more information about the breed, caring for our new pup now, and as time goes on. All the things you want to ask your vet, but they don’t know enough about the breed to give a proper answer, it’s in this book. Every silly thing about your Boston, that only a Boston lover can appreciate, it’s in this book. It covers everything a modern Boston owner needs to know from history (very interesting) puppy hood, grooming, diet, training, exercise and breed standard. I would definitely recommend it for current and future Boston parents-Courtney B., Orange County CA.

A must for future and current Boston owners
The Boston Terrier Handbook is exactly that. A great one-stop treasure of information for current and future Boston owners. Divided into sections dealing with all aspects of choosing and raising Bostons, the book is very concise. When health problems raise their ugly little heads there is a comprehensive section on all health related issues. When behavioral problems bare their teeth the book covers puppy training, exercise and adult training. If or when the book is offered in an e-book format the reading experience will be more enhanced as there many URL’s throughout the book (anybody remember bibliographies)? There are also many photos of early Bostons as well as cute puppy picture. Finally, at least for me, the clincher was a sentence in the beginning of the book which established the author’s street cred; “They often have a comical personality and funny, illogical things – it’s hard to work what’s going on in their heads sometimes.” And that’s the reason we raise these dogs.

Great book for new Boston Terrier parent
This book includes loads of useful information for Bostons. Highly recommended resource. It’s also a big book in large print, so it’s very easy to read.

Read this before you get a Boston!
I just finished reading Linda Whitwam’s book, The Boston Terrier Handbook. Growing up in a family with Boston Terriers and now having one of my own, I thought I knew pretty much all there is to know about these wonderful little dogs. Boy was I wrong! Linda’s insights into the nature of Bostons was a revelation. I often wondered why they act in certain ways like following me around from one room to the next. And now I know……..they are “velcro dogs!” Also, Wille, our current Boston boy, is experiencing a lot of itching issues and Linda’s book explains why this is and what we can do about it. For anyone interested in getting a Boston Terrier and wants to learn about why these are the most wonderful dogs in the world, you should definitely read this book.

** A MUST Read for Current and Future Boston Terrier Owners **
Although I was one of the collaborators on this book, I wasn't involved in every chapter and after reading it, I have to say it is by far one of the best, most useful (and easy to read/understand) "handbook" on the Boston Terrier. I have had (and shown) Boston Terriers for going on two decades and this book is a culmination of many years' experience - it is NOT your everyday book written by someone without firsthand experience. I will be recommending this book to everyone interested in owning a Boston, whether for a companion or a show dog - it really is helpful on all levels. Kudos to Linda W for reaching out to the Boston Terrier community to put together the best book possible. I'd say you "nailed it"!!!

For breeders only, not owners
I found that more than half of this book to be information that dint applies to me as a person who already owns a Boston terrier and has no interest in breeding them.
