Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie star in the gripping suspense thriller The Bone Collector about a serial killer who takes his victims' lives and leaves behind mysterious pieces of a bizarre puzzle. It is now up to Lincoln Rhyme (Washington), a onetime top homicide investigator, who may be the only person who can make sense of his deranged plan. When a tragic accident changes his life forever, Rhyme can only watch as other cops bungle the case...until he teams up with a young rookie, Amelia Donaghy (Jolie), who bravely searches out the clues that could help them solve the case. As the killer senses the cops closing in, Rhyme realizes that he and his partner are on the trail of a vicious, sadistic murderer who will stop at nothing on his deadly mission. At any moment, Rhyme and Amelia could become his next targets—and their first case could become their last.Bonus Content:Spotlight On LocationTrailerFeature Commentary with Director Phillip NoyceMy Scenes

The Bone Collector on Blu Ray
I ordered this film through Amazon but the order went to Movie Mars as the distributer/seller. The order was made on Nov. 25th and did not arrive until Dec. 8th. I had to call Amazon to see where the order was since the rest of my order made on the 25th got to me very quickly as usual. When I received the Blu Ray, I noticed that on the back of the disc box it said 'Rental or Resale'. I have never seen this before on a new purchase. I opened the Blu Ray and expected to see a damaged disc or one with fingerprints on it or something. I was wrong and the disc was just fine. Never the less, I would avoid purchasing anything through Movie Mars as the seller. Now that I have that rant out of the way, There are already a great many reviews here providing a summary of the plot, opinions on acting, etc. Therefore, this review will only focus upon the actual quality of the transfer of 'The Bone Collector' to Blue Ray. My 5 stars represents the quality of the audio and video of this Blu Ray and not on the movie itself.Keep in mind that the quality of what you see and hear also depends upon the quality of TV monitor you are using and its accompanying home theater processor and speakers. I have a pretty high end,7.1 esoteric system and am judging the Blu Ray off of that. One last thing, I do wish Amazon would separate the film reviews into Blu Ray, Standard Def and Streamed categories. It is a pain to have to scroll through a ton of streaming reviews just to find a review of the Blu Rays.VIDEO QUALITY....Once again, there are previews for other films which simply take up space on the disc causing you to pay for a film that is now more compressed than it needs to be just to make room for advertisements. I really hate when this occurs on Blu Rays I buy and it occurs all too frequently. As a result of this compression the average MBPS rate was in the low to high twenties when it could have gone much higher. There is a generally warm and natural appearing color grading given to this film and decent detailing in the dark or shadowy areas. Focus is on the soft side but that is not a criticism, just an observation. Contrast was surprisingly good, even in darker scenes. At no point did I see any real grain and certainly no artifacts. I did expect the grain as this is an older film but the transfer is very clean in my opinion. Nice job all around.AUDIO QUALITY....My big surprise of the day. The Dolby Digital True HD 5.1 audio track on this film was considerably better than I expected. While audio levels were lower than I usually find, making me up the volume on my surround processor, once I adjusted the volume the audio stayed consistent so I had no need to then roller coaster the remote volume control. While dialogue was easily discernible and transparent throughout the film, what pleasantly surprised me was the terribly effective use of discreet steering of the dialogue between the mostly front left and right surround speakers. Dialogue in most films, despite other foley fx, usually is always steered through the center channel. In 'The Bone Collector' there is ample dialogue coming from either the left or right speakers especially when Denzel's character is speaking to Angelina Jolie's character via phone or their com system. (By the way, Jolie can really act as this film proves) This use of discreet directionality, as well as the many pans of audio between the sound stages, impressed the heck out of me and, I believe makes the disc demo worthy for showing off your home theater system. Also, unexpectedly, the LFE channel gets a strong workout in many of the scenes. 5 stars on the audio for sure.EXTRAS....I don't count previews/ads for other films or UV or 4K as extras. While this review was not a comparison between the two formats, I do have the Standard Def DVD of 'The Bone Collector'. Many of the extras on the Standard Def disc are not present on the Blu Ray release which has only a directors commentary and a 'Making Of' doc which has a 4:3 aspect ratio and appears to be a copy of a making of used for television. Not too impressive on this end.Is it worth it to upgrade from your Standard Def version to the Blu Ray? While the SD release did have a choice between DD and DTS compressed audio codecs, that the Blu Ray utilizes an uncompressed DTS codec makes it certainly worth it for the amount of audio steering this film contains. I do not believe that this film was remastered, but the Blu Ray was fairly pristine and worth the upgrade.I do hope that this review has been of some help to you in deciding your purchase. All my blu ray reviews focus only on the actual quality of the transfer to blu ray so I hope some of them may be of help to you as well. Thanks for reading.

Blu Ray is clear and worth it
Good acting from Denzel and the very beautiful Angelina Jolie. Was glad to see Queen Latifah in the movie and she wins one’s respect and like for her even more. An interesting plot. Keeps a person’s interest throughout the movie with a lot of suspense and other actors in the movie did a good job.
