Let's try this again. Why does dust spit out the side vents when I am full submerged under water and vacuuming?

Not sure what's going on. Mine spits only air bubbles and water out the sides, and if I put it together underwater, I don't get air bubbles. I did find the company a pleasure to deal with - try asking them!

Can you be in the pool to clean it?

Yes, you can. I just use it w/a pool stick since it’s easier to visually see the areas that need to vacuumed while looking down.

I have a pool that is 9' deep by the diving board. Can this cleaner be fitted with a standard pool pole with the plastic spring clip at the end?

Yes, it can accommodate a standard pole. This vacuum is best for small pools and spa/hot tubs. If you have a large pool, this vacuum is going to take a long time Buuuut, the battery life is amazing. I haven't charged it in a month and it is still going strong - even after being left outside in the sun the entire time.

What type of motor does this have?

Uh not sure what exactly your asking, it uses an internal rechargeable lithium battery, product spec tell how many gallons per min it pumps, but no mention of horsepower, I am very pleased with mine for the kids pool, an inflatable approx 92 inches long by 48 inches wide by 36 inches or so deep, item must be submerged to operate
