I’ve always used plastic combs, but was looking for an environmentally conscious alternative. These fit that bill, and they are functional. There is definitely a difference in feel and control, they’re not as fine toothed or precise in placement as plastic combs. That said, some with sensitive heads may appreciate the softer feel of these combs. I will likely get used to the less precise control. The teeth were mostly straight but I did spend a little time carefully bending a few teeth back into shape that were bent in packaging/ shipping. I keep the smaller course and fine in my travel case; the larger handle combs for home. L&S: I like that they are not plastic.

I have long, fly-away, baby-fine hair. The static is especially bad in winter, when my hair practically floats around my head. I've always used plastic combs, and read that getting a non-plastic alternative might help. Wow did these bamboo combs help. They don't add static. Even less than the friction of clothing or my hand touching the hair. Plus, using them doesn't break or tear the ends, as always happened, they slide right through. They're light-weight, attractive, no odor and come in an assortment of every type of comb I could want. Plus they arrive in a nice, fabric draw-string pouch. I'm in love.

Overall, the combs appear to be well made and are quite lovely. However, from my experience, these combs are Not compatible for very fine and thin hair. I had been wanting these combs for a long time and decided to order them at Christmas. The description had stated from other reviewers that the combs worked well with thin hair; so you can imagine my disappointment and frustration when I first combed my hair with 1 of these. As I began combing my hair the comb itself began breaking off my hair!! It wasn’t a clean comb through as we all become accustomed to and comb our hair without thinking, the comb should slide through like millions of times we combed our hair in our lifetime. Yet for me, these combs performed like dull razors and were Literally breaking off my hair. I stopped combing immediately before I ruined All my thin hair and promptly began the Return and Refund proceedings. In conclusion, from my point of view and with the combs I received, they do Not work on thin, fine hair at all. It will take months for my hair to regrow, but hopefully with a lot of conditioning treatments, repair from the shock of the immediate breakage of my hair from using this defective product.

Unlike some of my previous combs, the teeth on these combs do not irritate my sensitive scalp. I am particularly glad that the two wider teeth combs can detangle my thick hair without any breakage!
