Solid introduction to Nutrition.
A pretty solid and decent introduction to the world of nutrition. I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend for anyone who doesn't know much about nutrition or needs a little bit more information on it. The FOR DUMMIES books are really great way to get introduced to pretty much any subject matter. I own many of them and have never been disappointed, however, they are not for those going to school or college on any given subject because the books are just detailed introductions.

Many of us don't even have a clue
Full of information. It's good to know about vitamins, minerals, protein etc. How they work and why we need them. When we learn more we end up changing our ways for the better.

Wonderful information
i've been an advocate for the "for Dummies" books for awhile. Although thety arent going to give you super extensive research on any subject, they give you wonderful depth of information on the subject. I like to buy them on something i know nothing about but want to learn. The "Nutrition" volume goes into detail about everyitng. Calories... how calories are measured. proteins, vitamins, minerals... What you should eat and what you should avoid... and it reads quick! After reading this I almost subconciously find myself making "better" decisious on what i should and should eat. Great information.

Book Helps with Weight Management
So far I have lost 71.0 pounds in 5 months. I am at the city hospital's Weight Management program and have just started the maintenance phase, even though I have more weight to lose.Nutrition for Dummies was a suggested book on our reading list. It gave me a lot more information about what they had been teaching us in the class. It answered a lot of my questions. I will definitely be better able to manage my weight loss from having read this book. I recommend it.

OK reading but boring
The material presented in this book sounded more like stuff you would read when opening a biochemistry book etc. I guess I was looking for something that would put everything together and help me stay better informed about nutrititon in a easy to understand manner. This book will require reading several times to get the information better stored in our head. It will be a good reference book. Basically I am looking for a simple book that will help me better understand all the nutriton jargon and make better informed choices.

good source of information
figure the more I know how nutrition works in the body, the better decisions I'll make subconsciously. This seems just fact based and not curving to any certain diet. Just information. I feel the same way about diet for dummies. just full of information so you can make your own choices.

Good book with great information
Good book with great information. Easy to read and understand and the book is written in such a way that you can read it like a novel or simply use it as a reference/lookup book.

An excellent summary of what we eat and why it works
Nutrition is an ideal subject to fit in the Dummies format: sequenced no-nonsense chunks of information in a light and easy style. This book starts at the right place - energy and nutrients - and expands into the details of carbs and sugars etc. The most useful part, though, is probably the last third: with all the knowledge behind it, the author makes sense of the old Food Pyramid and food labelling in terms of actual stuff you'd buy at the supermarket, with plenty of pointers and callouts telling you why some things are smart choices and why your hand wavers towards the bad. (If you know why you crave sugar, you've taken a step towards reducing your intake - things like the difference between hunger and appetite are well explained. What it DOESN'T do, though is act as any sort of meal planning text - although you could reasonably write your own. It isn't a recipe book; there's probably another Dummies volume for that.Overall, a great, useful text that's ideal for today's obese Western world.

Simple
Lays out the basic to intermediate theory to nutrition in a way thats easy to understand, doesn't go as deep as I like but thats why I got this, without knowing some of the basics, the advanced stuff is near impossible to get your head round, great book to learn a lot about nutrition or a step to learn more advanced stuff

sensible and factual
An excellent antidote to so many books about food/nutrition. No fanciful speculations or assumptions about the benefits of foods, vitamins, trace elements etc, just the facts as known at the time of writing.
