It fit so I didn't have to worry about trying to remove my old one.
I had to do a coolant system refurb on my Jeep WJ 4.0. The main problem was a worn out fan clutch but it was leaking around the water pump too. I did the "while you're in there's" too so water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, thermostat housing, heater hose pipe and Fel-Pro upgraded gaskets with Honda-Bond RTV Silicone sealant and a new serpentine belt too. Everything worked great but to get the old fan clutch off I had to cut the nut part that screws on to the water pump shaft. I used a new Milwaukee M18 Orbital Super Sawzall, my reward for doing this DIY job. I didn't want to buy the Sawzall but after trying two parts store rental fan clutch removal tools with absolutely zero success, I got medieval on it. 15 minutes and two saw blades later the repair could proceed. The lower fan shroud fasteners are another pain in the ass for that job but after that, no big deal. After carefully cleaning all of the gasket surfaces and applying a reasonable amount of Hondabond, everything reassembled easily, I put the old hoses back in place refilled the system and burped it. Now my engine temperature stays right at 195 I think and beside warming up, the needle never budges. Before it would overheat if I wasn't traveling at 45mph+ and I had to add coolant almost every time I drove. That was mostly the fan clutch causing that but everything I used to fix it is working perfectly so far.

Exactly as described & direct fit replacement.
I had to swap my water pump in my 4.0L i6 1998 Jeep XJ. Most say to reuse the inlet hose... but mine was trash thanks to a "brother-in-law" fix from the previous owner. This one was a direct fit replacement & good quality. Worked as intended with no issues (other than how much of a pain these are to install) ๐

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 WJ
Perfect replacement for my rusty 20 year old one. The quality is similar to OEM and was super easy to install on the new pump (while OFF the vehicle). The idler pulley will also need to be removed to provide clearance for install It came with a thin layer of some kind of red sealant on the threads, but I threw some permatex high temp sealant on it too. I just snuggled the pipe up and tightend until the angle matched the old pump and pipe... using the old as a template, side by side, off the vehicle

Worked on my 1988 Cherokee
Needed a new water pump for my '88 Cherokee 4.0L. The water pump uses a straight inlet tube from the heater core with the hose having the bend. This changed in '91 to using the "90 deg" tube that's listed here. My old tube was original to the XJ and in bad shape. New ones are unobtanium. So I took a leap and order this one. Threads match perfectly. It took a bit of trial and error to get orientation just right so it doesn't interfere with the valve cover and other hoses (so "dry fit" it a few times). I had to trim the hose (also recently replace) to fit. Overall fits well, doesn't leak and doesn't crowed that area by the thermostat housing.

Good replacement
Works like it should. Make sure to install to the pump first or like me you'll realize it won't go on after the water pump and fan ar in place.
