Will 1x2 from Home Depot fit this stand without any adjustments?

Yes. Though I did shorten my boards to fit in my SUV properly.

How heavy are these steel frames individually? Are they actually steel or aluminum?

They are steel. Not super heavy. I weighted them down with concrete blocks.

What material is the stand made of?

I we'll constructed quality piece of steel with good quality paint and adjustability. I bought my second set since I have a place in FL and MA and shoot in both places. Here's a hint. Go to Home Depot her 1x2" strapping 8' cut in half, on for each side of the target. Get 1 sheet of 1/4" plywood and have HD cut it in half twice (2'x4') pieces. Screw them into the strapping and voila you have 2 perfect targets.
