Better and cheaper than you might think
These Oxford Reading Tree books are part of a wonderful reading program from Oxford University Press. The home reading program has many, many little stories at the same reading level. The simplest levels are good for any kid. The whole series is perhaps best for kids who are having a little difficulty learning to read. The price is high BUT Listen up! Many of the packs of 6 books are now being published as anthologies of 4 out of the 6 and sold for $8 to $10. The missing titles can be bought for $4 or $5 each. AND Oxford Owl provides a website where kids can read many of the books online for free. The illustrations in these books are big and appealing and the vocabulary is very well controlled.. Stories about a family progress to stories involving a magic key that takes the children in the series to an adventure in a far off place. The illustrations sometimes include a little joke. The books include at the end the briefest of exercises or a puzzle. As kids become competent readers they will want to read more complicated books with a broader range of themes, with deeper character development, with different styles of illustration, and so forth, but I bet they will still enjoy these stories.

The pricing is ridiculous. I bought from The Book Depository for $30.63 plus $3.99 for shipping. I thought they are real books. But they are not real books. Each book only has 8 pages. So total there are 48 pages for the set. It doesn't worth the money. Find something else from American publisher. They should be much cheaper.
