I have an 8 volt battery I need an 8 volt battery test please help

How do you test a starter with this ?

TESTING THE CHARGING SYSTEM a) Connect the tester to the battery. b) Make sure the tester and leads are clear of all moving parts. c) The charging section is located at the far-right side of the meter. d) Start the engine and run it at 1200 to 1500 rpm. e) The meter should be in the “OK” green section of the charging system scale with all electrical accessories off. f) With the headlights and fan motor on high the meter should remain in the “OK” green section. g) If the meter reads in the red section or outside the charging system zone, then there is an issue with the charging system. The alternator is most likely defective.

What gauge are the cables?

The cables are like extension cord wiring. There is 3 wires in each cord white, black, and blue. I'm not exactly sure of the gauge but the appear to be either 12 or 14 copper stranded wire.

are the clamps connected to the vehicle post battery cables or do I have to remove and attach directly to the battery posts?

The clamps can be connected to the battery terminals directly or to the vehicle's battery cable clamps while battery is in the vehicle.

Get a Load of This Guy

Was cheaper than Harbor Freight when I bought it. Nice analog reliable unit. Makes a lil smell when running. Read instructions carefully about how long to run and how long it needs to cool. No digital failsafes - you can burn out the coils if you're not paying attention. Strong clamps that conveniently clip to the sides. Thick gauge wire. Sensitive gauge. I love the simple design. Helped me determine whether my batteries were getting better after resuscitation. Helps to burn off surface charge too. It's a decent safe load you can place on any 12v battery.
