As this game is story driven do replays suffer or become bland because you already know the story?

Replays will suffer a tad because it will be the same theme/story but there are new episodes you can add on. You can also raise the difficulty and use different mice for a new feel. Like most dungeon crawlers, your variety comes from your monster draw. One cool thing is the downloadable mp3 file that narrates the story for you. Check out the website.

In a picture, the miniatures are colored and in another, they are not. Which version would I be getting?

I am guessing not colored. I don't know of a version that comes pre-painted, likely the picture is painted by the owner. Mine were grey.

How does this compare in mechanics/play-style to the D&D 4e board games like Castle Ravenloft? Thanks in advance, if anyone has insights/opinions.

Mice and Mystics has much simpler mechanics. Characters typically have a battle and defense score of 1 or 2. For each battle, you'd roll a single specialized die and count the number of 'swords' (or 'bows' for ranged attacks) against the target's defense (or the # of shields they rolled). That's it. Spells or abilities are described on individual skill cards that explain how to modify these rolls.

is it a good game for two to play?

I think so, yes. The game instructions state that is for 1-4 players, so a person could even play it solo if they wanted. It is a cooperative games, you help each other. You don't play against one another. In a two player game, each person could play 2 of the mice and help each other. Each of the 2 players could just play 1 of the mice, but I think it would be best if you both played 2 of the mice and played with 4 mice.
