70097 Twin Motor Gearbox Assembly Set

This is for all the SCALE modelers out there this will fit in most 1/35th Tamiya model tank hull but JUST. The gearbox work great A BIG NOTE THERE ARE ONLY two gear setting 58:1(this rally needs to 90:1 to be perfect) and 203:1 which is to fast for scale modeling. There are 3 positions to set up your gear shaft. **READ** also when constructing this they give you three options to place the main drive shaft "B" which is the one that sits lowest to the ground, this is the one I almost always use for a tank. "A" middle and most forward(both these positions are at the gear ratio of 58:1 the last set up position is "C" furthest back and middle at 203:1...The actual size is L=75mm x W=49mm x(plastic screw holes shaved off) H= 23mm. Enjoyable to assemble, and really does provide a ton of torque for my little tracked arduino robot I built. An improvement over the included single gearbox that the Tamiya tracked chassis kit includes- especially if you need to turn your project.

Its ok... No 4 battery assembly is included with this kit. So currently just sitting on my desk. Dinging 2 stars for "Japanese only" instructions. I was able to to put it together, slightly different from the pictorials that I could follow. ==Edit== I got it assembled. The plate on which this should go only supports the size of a single motor. Buyer, be aware that you will have to engineer something slightly different (I don't have a drill), or you can drill additional holes in the base plate.

Another great kit from Tamiya, works just as expected. Plenty of gear reduction. Note that this is different width and form factor than their DOUBLE gearbox kit.This TWIN gearbox will fit into Tamiya's Arm Crawler to make a robot. The DOUBLE gearbox won't fit.

We just got this kit a couple of hours ago and my daughter already put it all together. Vague and hard to follow directions to my eyes, but she had no problem with it. We plan to combo with other components from our tank collection to complete a one-off RC tracked vehicle. I love watching her use these "simple", or basic, components to build more complex mechanical organisms.

I got this because of another reviewer's comment: "This should be bundled with the Tamiya tank track kit". I had just purchased the tank track kit and wanted the twin motor gearbox and this one was supposed to fit. We did get it to fit, but we had to drill new holes to hold it. The holes for the single drive the tank track comes with are too narrow. This may be obvious to some, but in case it's not: When I purchased this and the tank track kit, I thought it was an assembled unit like it shows in the picture. I just wanted a chassis and twin gear box for the arduino robot I'm making. So I was a bit surprised when a box full of small pieces arrived. It wasn't bad though - in less than 2 hours we had the gearbox and tank track completely assembled. No thanks to the confusing directions. My husband is a mechanical engineer and I had to ask for help several times.

Very well made product, gears fit perfectly and run smooth. An it is the only one that will fit an academy 1/35th Hellcat model with only minor removal of the two protrusions on the bottom to mount to a board.
