nice beacon - easy to use
This is a nice beacon. It's compact size is nice. The ease of turning off/on without removing from holster is a plus, but the real plus is the proximity sensor, which switches the beacon from send to search automatically when beacon is removed from holster.

You should buy this if you care about weight over functionality
Ok. Wow. The beacon doesn’t have a switch (but a temperamental button) between search and transmit. It relies on a proximity transmitter. Works great at room temp. In an emergency when you’re wet and cold? It almost always shows an error code then switches to transmit. Maybe don’t tell your skiing buddies your beacon won’t search?Low voltage battery? With a battery less than 10 hours old - low voltage error in cold at temps of 15 degrees FUltimately - this is Pieps next lawsuit waiting to happen. It should be recalled.But hey! If you’re so into ultralight backcountry skiing that you don’t care if your buddies die - this is your beacon!
