Quality Workmanship
UPDATE 4 Nov 2018I must say if I could give this thing six stars I would!! It has survived car washes and works great! I painted mine white and am very pleased with it after a couple of months. The mechanism still works smoothly. I had it mounted as close to the back as feasible in my 1996 Chevy Astro and am very pleased with my decision. A little rain comes through with it open, but just a few drops, so I'm not worried. That's if it rains hard and I have it all the way open [Georgia Summer normal for me]. I definitely recommend this one. If I ever want to replace it with a Fantastic Fan, it will fit in the existing hole. That was a major deciding factor for me, that I could install a Fantastic Fan myself if I wanted to, and I definitely wanted an all metal vent. The trim is plastic, but the vent itself is all metal. It fit in between the last and next to last metal rib at the back of my van. Thanks for a quality product!I received it in a few days and the fella who installed it for me said it was very easy, even though he had not installed one on a van. I love the way it looks. I painted it white to match my van and love the fact that it is solid metal except for the inside collar piece, which is plastic. This slides inside the bottom of the vent, which is all metal. The screen is heavy duty. Solid construction. The mechanism works smoothly. To clean the screen there is the one phillips-head screw in the metal handle. there is a flimsy notched square of sheet metal that fits on the handle to keep the fit tight, but it does the job. I took it apart to paint it and got it back together right the second time. The first time I put the mechanism in I used the wrong set of holes and had trouble with the square shim, but you won't have to disassemble it to clean the screen. I love the metal lid! I read many reviews on fans which have complaints about the plastic lids shattering when hit by tree limbs in storms. Not this lid! And, the vent has the standard size footprint as the Fantasic Fan and other fans I was considering. This vent has holes in the bracket that might accept a small fan, so I'm thinking about installing one temporarily. In the meantime, with this vent at the back of my van and windows down, it keeps the temperature down, since my A/C doesn't work yet.

It worth it.
It is what it is, nothing more nothing less.. it’s a $50 metal rv vent with big screen. And yes to those future purchasers lacking brain cells..... It has sharp edges so if you’re dense wear gloves or try inhaling water... but don’t give a bad review on behalf of your low IQ 🤦♂️Installed in a rv I’m building, I put a 12v fan kit in it and am using it for an exhaust fan above my rv stove.Only negative would be the white “seal” is more hard plastic than rubber so the seal is decent... but I went to home depot and got nice rubber door seal and put that on and now it’s golden. One peace of advice with any hand crank vent. Close them slowly so the lid don’t do that violent bouncing action... it’ll make the crank system last longer.Would I buy again, yes.

Great value.
I needed a low profile vent because I have a roof rack so I got this one. It came with some light foam inside that I removed and added my own insulation. I also painted it to match the van. It does come with a cover for the inside, but I haven’t installed yet until I finish installing ceiling panels. It’s great! It’s easy to install and functions smoothly.

Plastic inner frame
Overall a good product, was looking for all metallic construction because of high heat inside trailer melting the previous vent frame. This one has an inner frame that's plastic so we shall see. Looks nice though

no hardware or sealer included
I installed this roof vent in a 5x8 foot cargo trailer. Installation methods vary due to the construction of the roof bracing is probably why no hardware is included, but I used #8 hex head drill screws to install mine, it takes about 28 of them. My trailer roof frame was boxed for a standard 14" vent like this is. The actual rough opening is 14-1/4" square. The vent is well made, this one is a metal lid; the inner frame is plastic, has a nice, tight screen in it, and the crank mechanism works smoothly The lid will open to about 70 degrees, and closes snugly against a pleated gasket; additionally, the underside of the lid has a thin foam layer that helps seal against the gasket. I haven't tested it in rain yet, but you can see no daylight with the vent closed. There is also an inner trim collar included, it fits under the inside ceiling material to make a finished opening. Very nice touch. The butyl rubber gasket material and Dicor sealant are both available online, but I bought mine at a local camping trailer center for the same price I saw them advertised here; they are common items for sealing pass-through items like windows, vents and drains on camper trailers. There are also myriad Youtube installation videos, after looking at one, it took me about 45 minutes to install my vent, as I have all the tools needed. This roof vent is a nice addition to any trailer where you need ventilation, this is a well-made product and I would definitely buy it again if needed.

Exactly as described
The roof vent comes with all the parts needed for install, EXCEPT butyl tape & roof screws. I used 1.5" #10 sheet metal screws as I have an aluminum roof and the orginal screws were the same length but slightly narrower. I replaced our old plastic vent that had seen better days with the metal one and was very pleased. I painted the top lid white and bought a Camco rain cover for $20 as well. The metal is sharp so be careful, I easily nicked my knuckle on the lid when applying sealant. Overall I am very pleased! Hopefully it last for the life of our RV!
