fun to do
lot of fun assembling. Directions a bit hard to follow but is possible with care. I have ordered another one as well.

You get what you pay for...
I guess for the price I shouldn't really complain but I'm going to anyway. I've been building ship models for years and wooden kits have gotten expensive so when I say this kit for this price I thought; how bad can it be? It'll be a fun little project between larger more involved projects.... Turns out how bad it can be is pretty bad. Many of the pieces are so thin they break if you look at them wrong. And many of them don't fit together correctly. Now usually when that happens with a wooden kit you can do a little trimming, a little sanding, but not with this kit because a half dozen pieces broke when I tried to even lightly sand them to size. Lastly the directions are terrible, there's just vague diagrams and several times the pieces in the parts sheets I received didn't even match the numbers on the directions so I had to adlib. There were also parts in the sheets that weren't represented on the directions at all and didn't seem to fit anywhere. About halfway through I decided it wasn't worth the time (or the aggravation) it would take to turn this kit into anything even approaching a decent ship model so I tossed it, wrote off the cost, and moved on to a more expensive but viable kit that would actually be worth the time invested. You really do get what you pay for and in this instance what you get is junk, don't bother.

Great little boat!
A lot of the previous reviews were negative due to the parts not fitting together like a 3-D puzzle. What you need to know about this little boat model, is that it is not a 3-D puzzle! It’s a real model and it will require some fitting and filling and sanding to make it come out very nice. It will help, if you have some experience with wooden models. Also, as previously noted, the instructions are basically just pictures and they’re not super clear, but again, if you have some experience building wooden models especially boat models, you should be able to figure it out. To dress up the model, I added some commercial parts such as lights, and lifeboats, portholes etc. These vastly improved some of the provided detail parts, but they are certainly usable if that’s the way you want to go. All in all, a very enjoyable kit. I cannot say exactly how many hours it took to build it, but it certainly was not a one or two night build. It was an hour or so a night over the course of two or three weeks.

Low Quality, Difficult Kit
I do a lot of these kits, I consider myself fairly experienced. While I completed the kit and got OK results, for many kit builders out there I wouldn't recommend it. This is a bad kit. The instructions are barely passable, there were missing pieces, many parts needed fitting by hand with a knife and sandpaper, Not the worst I've ever done, but pretty close. If you have lots of experience with these things then you shouldn't have a problem.

Missing some pieces others not as pictured in product images
Missing pieces pictured in instructions, mainly fittings for masts, cannons were not as pictured either, ended up not using them and will purchase higher quality if i think the model needs them, laser cut parts bot always cut through very well and many parts on the thicker sheet especially broke even when partially cut out from sheet, and experienced delamination of the wood as well. Higher quality balsam should have been used for planking, as ship nails would just split the boards for the gunnels and all the planks, even after a pilot hole was drilled. If you are willing and able to carve some of your own fittings its a fine place to start at the price, but i beleive many of the decl crimscrams will need replacing as i dont believe they are to scale. Not altogether unhappy so far as it was very cheap and a fun weekend project.

Just for Practice
Absolutely terrible instructions. Laser cut burned the edges off the wood. BUT IT'S REALLY GOOD TO PRACTICE ON FOR WHEN YOU GET A REAL MODEL SHIP KIT

Interesting project.
Not for everyone, Intricate parts to assemble, instructions can seem a little vague. But, a fun & challenging project.

Not even worth the $20
I got this as a test of how I would like building this type of model. At the price point I wasn't expecting much, but it didn't even meet those meager expectation. The instructions are a joke- you get one page in Mandarin with diagrams showing you which pieces to assemble where. The problem is not all pieces are easily identifiable, and I'm fairly certain some (the cannons) were missing. The materials were flimsy and very fragile. The fit between hull pieces was tight, which was great until I tried to lay the deck down. At that point, no matter how careful I was, pieces just kept breaking off until finally, I had to scrap her. The back of the first page of instructions showed how the masts were to be positioned, as well as the sails and some rigging, but it didn't look complete. The second page was the patterns for the sails- you get a small piece of cloth, and you have to cut the sails by hand. If you are looking to build a wooden ship, do yourself a favor. Spend the money to get a good kit, and skip this one entirely.

Very small, like something you would buy from a dollar store, thin wood and instructions were all in Chinese. I returned it in time but have yet to hear back from the buyer/company or get my refund. It's been over a month. Very dissapointed. If I would give 0 stars I would

Terrible instructions, tiny pieces kept breaking so needed repairing and gluing, some pieces were mislabelled….
