Rust-Oleum Marine Topside Semi-Gloss White Boat Paint

I got this for my laundry tub (plastic, typical tub). Cleaned & sanded the bottom and sides. Rolled on one coat and let dry for 3 days. Result: looks great, but I can scratch the paint off with my thumbnail, it doesn't adhere. First time the washer exhausted water (cold, not hot) some of it released and I could see old stains beginning to come out from underneath. Tube was never used for anything greasy, no acid type chemicals, etc. Just a plain laundry tub. I understand that two coats would be better, but if the bottom coat is not adhering two coats isn't going to make any difference. [EDIT 8/01/2026] Ok, it's been 1.5 weeks since my first application. The paint is hard and tight on the tub now. It took several days to really dry and cure. 3 days wasn't enough. Upgrading my review to 5 stars. Tub looks terrific.

Overall this paint is pretty decent quality. We do not use it on boats though. We used it for many years painting exterior things on our homes and doors inside the homes. Over the years we have learned that paint makes a difference on certain surfaces. I'm sure someone may not like this idea or tell us to use door paint but it just doesn't hold up with the amount of washing I do on surfaces when we simply use "door paint" . Instead of repainting constantly we got an idea that boat paint is made to withstand water and sun since it is for boats. My husband first used it to paint gutters white on an old house and it worked well and held up for years until we replaced the gutters. Then we used it on interior doors because I'm particular about dirt on doors and it made it easy to just wipe the dirt /handprints off and it is still holding up many years later. We sold that house and moved to another house and we used it on the garage door and exterior doors. It is amazing and still looks nice today over 6 years later. We just moved from that house and did the same on the newest house and we are happy with it. my husband thins it slightly and uses it in a paint gun. It bonds quickly, looks nice, sticks well, and goes on clean. Overall it holds up for a while so the value is pretty good. The size of the can is smaller and it took almost the whole can to paint a double garage door. The black is a black gloss. I think paint in general has gotten insanely too high of priced. This is a better option for us since it does the job and lasts for a really long time and I can clean it without a problem.

Great topside coat and easy to apply. Last for a few years and then had to redo a coat. Easy to apply with a roller and paint brush. Looks good for paint and not a gel coat.

I live in a modest home with fiberglass showers and a tub. I'm also a widow in her mid 70s. One day I realized how dull and worn my showers were but I had no desire to have the old surrounds and tub ripped out because that would have ended up being 2 full bath remodels. I'd heard you could paint fiberglass, so I went on line and found out yes, you have to use marine paint, the type used on boats. I read the how-to's and looked at photos and reviews, and I bought the paint, rollers, etc. from Amazon. I painted my showers and tub and THEY TURNED OUT WONDERFUL! They look like they just came from Aisle 37 at Lowe's! The paint dried to the touch in a few hours, hard, bright and shiny. (Though I admit the floor of the tub took a lot longer to dry and kind of scared me. But overnight it dried thoroughly.) As for the smell several people complained about, I'm old enough to remember when all paint was oil based and stinky. It smells like paint, period. Not a big deal. You don't need a mask, goggles, fans and wide open windows. Just get over it. BTW, I had full coverage with one coat. You could do more if you want and maybe over time I'll feel the need. But it looks good to me and I have had no problem in the limited time I've been using the painted shower. Anyway, I did all that with fabulous results and I still have most of half a quart of paint left!

Did a great job on fiberglass. Very good

This product is great. Used to paint fiberglass top of my class b camper. I was amazed of how much surface one can covered. The paint sticks to everything including my fingernails. One way to tell if product is good for sealing, how easily is it to remove from your hands. Just simply a great product! Also would like to compliment Amazon. NOBODY compares with customer service. NOBODY.

On peux facilement utiliser un fusil basse pression a 25 ou 30 psig.Mais comme cette peinture est tres epaise il faut la diluer avec du varsol .La peinture doit etre assez claire pour le fusil. Laisser secher 2 jours et ne pas enlever le filme huilleux qui apparet le lendemain.Cette peinture n est pas trop couleuse.Je crois que cet une tres bonne peinture. Il suffit de bien ajuster le fusil selon votre dilution. Bonne chance les amis.

Excellent Product. Great value and quality. Goes on very easy and covers well. Battleship Grey is an excellent color for my aluminum boat.

This is a very good quality marine paint and definitely feels more durable than regular paint options. Yes, it costs a bit more, but in my opinion the extra price is absolutely worth it for the longevity and protection it provides. I used it on my canoe, and one of the main reasons I chose this paint was to avoid having to repaint every single year. The finish looks great, applies nicely, and is designed to handle the tougher outdoor and water conditions that regular paint struggles with. If you want something that lasts longer and saves time and effort in the long run, this is a solid investment for marine projects.

RUST-OLEUM 207000 Marine Coatings Tops is a great paint with excellent coverage and quality. I originally purchased it to do some touch-ups on our baseboards, and it worked beautifully. The matte finish looks clean and smooth, and it did a fantastic job covering up stains left behind after our wood floors were refinished. It applied evenly and dried nicely without streaks. Overall, a solid buy—highly recommend for detailed or high-coverage touch-up work!
