Amazing product. Super simple, ideal for prototyping!
I bought both the DB-25P and DB-9P versions of this product. I am prototyping connections for amateur radio repeater controller to repeater and linking radio setups. Since one of the repeaters was an unknown with unknown and poorly documented control lines and configuration setup, being able to move wires around as needed to test was invaluable. These things are super simple to use to prototype is terrific. The construction looks fantastic, the finished assembly looks fantastic and it fits in the space I had available to work in! Form, Fit, Function and simplicity. IDEAL for the protoyper. No need to solder, desolder, move around, and hope things work!

Very handy for wiring non standard devices
The pin numbers and GND silkscreen on the board were very helpful keeping track of which wire goes where. In my application Roboteq HDC-2460 motor controller I was unable to use the 25 pin and 9 pin connectors side by side with the shells on due to the narrow spacing between connectors. I was able to use them by removing both backshells.

Well-made, useful but not exactly easy
Years ago, I had to solder custom DB25 connectors from time to time. I thought the idea of screw terminals (new to me) would be a real boon. The Ambits includes all the pieces you need to create a tight and secure connector. The build quality is very good and when complete, it passed my continuity test first try. This was only four wires, so I figured this would be a quick build. However, there is something of a learning curve involved. First, the wire ends need to be trimmed and tinned. This connector was split out into two different wires, and I forgot that only the thin (22gague) internal wires can be exposed, but the insulation needs to be placed under the clamp. Also, the terminal arrangement with two blocks at 90ยบ make it hard if your wires need to go into the corner. So, for this few wires, I'm not sure if a traditional solder connector would have been better. But as a screw-type, I think this is the best of the lot.

Larger than typical DB25 connectors, but that can be a good thing
These DB25 connectors turned out to be a really good fit for my purposes. I needed to build some use-specific audio cables for within a rack of processors. Store-bought products for my purpose are available, sure, but I needed two feet or less of a cable run and most DB25 cable sets are longer than that and quite frankly become expensive fast. I know, I have a couple dozen DB25 cables. So to start, these are an outright win if you are trying to set up a user specific rig where longer cables won't do or split cable runs are required. Next thing is, for the sake of building yourself, the little internal circuit board is large enough to easily build upon, is well marked and requires no solder. Now, I am in no way afraid of setting up my soldering station and building some stuff. But being able to sort out a hydra of cabling and make sure the wires are run correctly is made just that much easier if a mistake is made and you need to correct the effort: unscrew the little terminal and move the wire over. No big deal. The final thing I will write in praise of these connectors: it is difficult to find a DB25 cable where the little screw connectors are #1 easy to grip and #2 have a place to set a screw driver. Most of the time, reaching in some contorted angle is par for the course. THIS DB25 connector has a slightly larger diameter screw connector so it is easier to grab... Awesome. Next, the two screw connectors have flat head screw driver slots so one can use an actual tool to more effectively attach the DB25 connector and what a simple pleasure it is to actually connect the pins in place effectively! It seems like such an obvious thing and yet very few of my pile of DB25 cables have that simple feature.

It's almost good enough.
The device works, sort of. The terminal connections are good - the plastic case however doesn't offer much in the way of mounting the strain relief, and the thumb screws for securing to the port are incorrect. The thumb screw is supposed to be retained in the housing when loose - but the part of the thumb screw that does is unthreaded for that effect is too far back on the screw so you can't get there with the case properly assembled. Overall this product is mediocre at best - it will work for what I need but it won't be easy to use for regular connection and disconnection - and heaven help us if the cable gets tugged a bit.

Like the ease of no soldering, but too thick.
Like the ease of not having to solder a DB, but the case on this and it's female counterpart taper up to the back, making it almost impossible to use two of these side by side with each other. I used them on a Nautel NV series transmitter exciter to connect the remote control and monitoring which are on top of one another on the back of the chassis, and the db connectors were so close together, they splayed a bit when fastened into the DB socket. The manufacturer of these needs to shave off about 1/16" or 3/32" to allow them to fit squarely into the DB when stacked next to each other. They work, but I will look for another connector like this that doesn't taper out. It needs to be straight, all the way from front to rear. There's still plenty of room to get your wire in the back even if they got rid of the taper. Like the fact they do provide various sizes of strain reliefs for multi-conductor wires of all kinds with each connector.
