I have a corded engraver, but the cord makes it cumbersome to use. I love this little engravor becasue it is as easy to use as a fat pen. The electric model I have is like a little jackhammer. It reciprocates in and out. This little tool spins, and it engraves like a Dremel Moto Tool. But the small size, light weight, and absense of a cord make all the difference in this being so useful for engraving. It took me hardly any time to engrave my MAGLITE S4D016 Heavy-Duty 4-D Cell Flashlight just above the on/off button. It did a very nice job. On a black surface like the Maglight, I recommend first writing the letters in a silver laundry marker pen and then engraving over the laundry marker once you get the letters to look like you want them with the laundry marker. I had to wipe off the laundry marker a couple of times to get it just right -- then I engraved. Once you engrave, though, that's it. You can't erase those marks, so get it right with a marker first.

Compact...lightweight...easy to control...easy to use. This is another example of Beadsmith being a reliable source for decent quality metalworking tools. I work with metal on a daily basis and currently own (6) pairs of Beadsmith specialty pliers that are in the range of 4-6 years old and still going strong...

I purchased this in order to engrave my name on my instruments. (I'm currently in dental hygiene school and some people be shiesty and taking whats not theirs) this def did the job. I would have liked it to be stronger but it runs on batteries and is portable. For the price it was good and my instruments have my name. It worked well enough but I did have to trace several times. It worked well on plastic and stainless steel. NO complaints. Would have given a 5 star rating, butttt it was weak.

I am very happy with this product. I bought this to engrave my metal pocket knife and it performed beautifully. The tip was small enough to make precise engravements. I highly recommend this product. It comes with two tips, one tiny and one large and an "allen key." The product requires two AAA batteries, not included. Inside my package, I also received nice quality pen and business card from the company. The motor speed depends on how hard the button is pushed which can be an issue if you have an unsteady hand.

I have a plug-in engraver that is heavier. This is good because it is mobile. The round bit makes it easy to move when engraving an item. However, the precision is slightly lacking. I have tried to engrave metal and make it pretty. No luck. I have only tried metal and plastic. Basically it works, but the engraver is sort of blunt. It does the job and it good to have as a mobile tool.

This tool is perfect for small engraving projects. It's somewhat weak, as one can infer by the size and price, but good quality for the price. It has difficulty engraving on tough metals, so don't expect to be engraving your wrenches or other items of hard metals. I got it to engrave in my jewelry, and it's perfect for that! Very helpful little tool for me, and I would recommend it.

Poorly and cheaply made tool. The switch is defective and works only 1 out of every 5 times, and even then it only runs for 2 or 3 seconds. Sometimes shaking the whole thing makes the switch work, but only for a few more times. Either the battery contact is bad or the switch itself is of inferior quality. The rest of the tool is of equally inferior/cheap quality (bad plastic molding, faint and uneven BeadSmith logo, loose connections in the battery compartment, uneven molding where the bit is inserted). The motor is under-powered even for plastics, not to mention metal or ceramic, and bogs down constantly. Returned and got the much, much superior WEN engraver.

Great item. Use it to tune harmonica reeds.

Me entregaron un equipo que no funcionaba, reclamé y me enviaron uno nuevo. Funciona correctamente, sencillo y fácil de usar. He realizado grabaciones en plastico duro solamente. Lo utilizo para marcar los efectos personales de los niños cuando se van de acampada. relación calidad/precio muy buena.

Es un buen producto, hace lo que promete, Es para un uso ligero-casual (3 a 5 veces por semana una hora aprox) no para algo pesado. La conveniencia de que sea de pila lo hace muy portable. Si lo recomeindo.
