Perfect for when you only need one cup
I'm really enjoying having this option for my pour over coffee. I've been using the standard Hario V60 for many years now, and it's great for making my normal 20 oz daily cups. However, sometimes if I'm having coffee later in the day...or if I only have time enough for one cup...then this new Hario option is awesome, and the stronger brew it makes tastes great. Following the instructions, you will make an 8 oz cup that is stronger than the standard 16:1 water-to-coffee ratio. By my calculations, I'm ending up with around 9:1 water-to-coffee ratio. I know I could adjust to get a different result, but I kinda like the stronger result...especially if I'm only going to have 1 cup. I got the plastic version, and it snaps apart for cleaning.

Simple, durable... what's not to like...
Nothing more simple than a Mugen. It works. I don't worry that it will break, and if it did I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another or a similar size 02 V60 in plastic. They are great.

Pour and walk away, easy and tasty but best for single cup brews
I wanted a coffee maker that's even simpler than everything else I already had (V60, aeropress, clever). The Mugen lives up. I can use any kettle. Pour carefully in circles, give it a quick swirl, and walk away; no preheat needed with medium roast. To clean, toss the filter an just rinse the cone in the sink. With all other brewers, you have to time things, either infusion time or pours. In terms of recipe, I don't follow their recommendation and instead I do the same 1 cup recipe I always do: 15g of coffee to 250g of water, grind size slightly finer than V60. Tastes delicious and pretty close to my V60. The only downside is that it is best suited for single brews. 24g of coffee takes forever to brew and does taste muted from declining water temperature. I will continue to brew 30/500g with the regular v60 02.

Same as most V Brewers, marginally better flow
One more of many variants of the pour over V filter. The claims of "no blooming' needed seems more marketing than real. Blooming does bring out better coffee than without. Unclear of the benefits of a cone without channels. The folder/hanger is a nice touch. Quality is very Japanese as one would expect though not clear where it is made. At this price not Japan I am sure. If you have never tried pour over coffee, this is a very inexpensive way to start and get good coffee too.

15 month review - Perfect coffee brewer
I've been using this every morning for the past 15 months. I use it alongside my regular v60 to make 2 cups. I prefer this version over the old design - the coffee drips a little slower, I can taste the extra extraction. I also prefer the design of the base, it fits better over larger mugs. No cracks or other issues from long term use. Between all my coffee brewers -- V60, V60 Mugen, Hario Switch, Kalita Wave, Chemex, AeroPress, Phin -- This V60 Mugen is my favorite.

Effective Hario Style dripper. Lightweight and Portable
As a Hario veteran I've had many different drippers. This is a good one for lightweight, portable use. The surfboard piece makes it fit on a variety of receptacles. The rest is straightforward like any other Hario dripper. Works well with size 2 filters.

Great no fuss pour over
It works great though it makes what I'd consider a half cup. The purists will hate me but I just pour one more dose of water on top and it makes a larger mug. As long as you follow the guidelines it makes a nice cup and its less of a hassle than the regular pour overs which is great for the mornings when you just need to do it and handle other stuff.
