Challenging!
This was the hardest spin ride video yet! The timing was off but that was actually a plus in my book. I was disappointed at first to learn the "race" was only to be 25 minutes long. I usually spin for a minimum of 45 minutes. I always keep a stop watch when I ride whether or not it is a video or one of my own routines. After about a 10 minute warm up the race began. You had the option of sitting or standing which was nice to give you a saddle break when you needed it. The race ended at 43:30 minutes. Obviously the race part was longer than the stated 25 minutes as the workout should have ended around 35 minutes. That was close enough for me!! Awesome ride!! I need to hit the shower now! Thanks Josh Taylor!

Great Workout!
I have several spinning videos, and this one is now my favorite. Josh Taylor is a good instructor and motivator. Highly recommend.

Pretty good for a spin DVD, but timing can be off.
Race Day Energy Zone is a good DVD that gets the heart rate up and has a good instructor. You start out with about 10 minutes of warming up where the instructor is talking to you getting you motivated for the "race". He takes you through the positions you'll be using and he gives you a way to monitor your cadence without a cadence meter. You then do a 25-ish minute race followed by a 10 minute cool down/stretch.The first time I listened to it, I thought the guy was a bit too into 'feeling the bike' and being one with the bike...I thought we were going to stop pedaling and start meditating at once, especially with the music and how into some of the people are (especially the blonde chick with short hair in the front...). However, after I gave it a couple tries, I like this instructor. He pushes you and it helps get results. Now for the bad parts, timing and misguided instructions. About 12 minutes into the race (i wore a watch after the first time), he says something like "I asked you how you're going to feel 5, 10 minutes in. How about 15 minutes in?" presuming I was at 15 minutes already, I was pretty happy to only have 10 minutes left, as I was getting tired the first time! Then he says that in the last 5 minutes is when we're going to prove ourselves what we can do...again presuming now I'm 20 minutes in-SWEET!. However, after this he says that the next song is 7.5 minutes long and then we're done...ok that's confusing...a few minutes ago I thought we only had 5 minutes left! Then with an actual 5 minutes to go, he says 5 minutes to go. I did this with a stopwatch and he's off in his time. When he says 5 minutes to go, it's actually about 6 minutes to go. When he says 1 minute, it's 1.5 minutes, 30 seconds to go is actually a minute...it's only when he says 15 seconds left is when the time is accurate because he counts down from ten. Now, this is good and aggravating the first time around. It's good the first time because you don't expect it so you really push yourself to another level, but then you're pissed off when he can't tell time. Nowadays, I just look at my own watch and wait until I actually have 5 minutes to go before I start pushing myself. Maybe he did this completely on purpose because he knows people will keep going or maybe he just was off in his time...I'm not sure. However, I don't care for it too much.Another drawback is that there's no on-screen timer the whole time...a simple addition that would have been easy to add, I would think. All in all though, I really recommend it and it is a great DVD...I highly recommend a cadence meter, wristwatch, and heart rate monitor though, as his method of using 'perceived exertion' doesn't seem to reliable...it's basically a scale of 1-10 of how you're feeling...it's just not too accurate.

Very nice DVD, the coach Josh Taylor is so professionnel, so great ... the top of the top. It's a real pleasure !!! and the music helps to burn ! I will buy all of his DVD. And even if I don't speak english every day, it's very easy to understand the instructions of Josh Taylor with the basic of english. Is there any coach like Josh Taylor in France ?

Excellent Workout Session!
This spinning DVD is everything Josh Taylor says it is during the workout session. It is, by far the most difficult and rewarding spinning workout I have ever experienced. Josh is full of energy and extremely helpful in coaching you through the entire 25 minute race-day ride simulation. I definitely feel accomplished at the end of this session! I have participated in the workout three times now and I feel stronger each time. It is definitely demanding on your body, however it is worth it and I highly recommend adding this DVD to your home spinning collection.

So disappointed I had to write this review
This is my first review ever. I truly felt compelled to write this.I've participated in one of Josh Taylor's master classes in person before and knew him to be chatty, but this DVD takes the cake. Do not buy this if you want a workout DVD. Only buy this if want a DVD which asks you to pedal while you listen to a "motivational speech".Josh Taylor talks sooooo much that it is distracting and annoying. He means well, but a spinning DVD is not the right venue for it. I wanted to be pushed to work out hard. I don't need a therapist want-a-be telling me to "be all I can be" or "pick my motivational word".His cue changes during the DVD are minor - basically he asks that you increase resistance slowly and spin. Stay on the saddle or get up. He leaves it up to you. I could do that on my own with some good music without having to listen to his incessant banter. It's definitely not worth the $24. Do not buy.

Again an excellent DVD and the Instructor Josh Taylor
Again an excellent DVD and the Instructor Josh Taylor, I have a few of his workout DVD's and they are all different and good workouts, this one when I bought it, I was not sure at first but when I tried it for the second time I really enjoyed it and the workout is different to my others because you keep sprinting for at least 25 minutes which is harder than you think, definitely sweat after this.

Video
It was louder than any class I've been to at normal volume.

Okay Spinning Video
The trainer is a bit cheesy and there isn't a great deal of variety. Also there are one or two points where the music stops. Not great.

Boring but effective
I've taken spinning classes for several years now (usually in a studio), and this is by far the most boring workout session I have ever done. There is no variety whatsoever: A longish warm-up is followed by 25 minutes of (medium to high) resistence training and a cool-down. That's it. No spint intervals, no arm training, nothing but monotoneous seated pedaling. I also disliked the instructor's constant chatting and attempts to be particularly motivational, but that is probably a matter of personal taste. The good thing I can say about this workout is that is got me sweating, but most spinning session you can find on YouTube are far better than this.
