Review: This was a great gift for my friend who recently turned 70 - This was a great gift for my friend who recently turned 70. We had a small party, and passed around each gift for everyone to view. It took a long time for this book to make it around the circle because people stopped and read passages out loud. It was a fun time, and the book offers practical ideas for making turning 70 an opportunity to do many of the things we don't have time for when we are younger. Review: Great read for someone tuening 70, or really anyone else - My wife really enjoyed this book. each story is fairly short and yet usually thoughtful and insightful; - - - a pleasant read.

Fun gift for a 70 year old birthday celebration
Gave as a gift to my 70 year old Mother-in-law. I'm not sure what she thought of it, but a fun little gift for such an occasion.

Delightful list of thoughts and ideas for those who have ...
Delightful list of thoughts and ideas for those who have successfully threaded the maze of life and arrived at the grand mark of three score and ten. Now that we have arrived at 70, we still have a lot of living ahead of us. This book gives a collection of authors and thoughts of adjustments / tactics for coping with senior years and making the most of them.

A good read but somewhat redundant
This is a very positive and uplifting collection of essays about turning 70. However, I can't give it 5 stars because the book is full of redundancies and so the title is not really appropriate. This isn't about 70 things to do when you turn 70, it's a book with 70 essays about what to do when you turn 70. IMO, there is a difference. I would recommend the book for seniors who might feel depressed about this milestone age. BUT the messages are fairly uniform in a sense. What they basically say is "Be happy. Enjoy life. Don't give up. Get a degree, or sail the seas or enlist in senior athletic contests, learn to dance, learn a new language, etc., etc." And that's not bad, mind you. All seniors, I think, have occasion to fight bouts of depression, and you CAN get an uplift from reading these essays...just don't look for "70 things," because I didn't find any. Also, I think I could point out that most of the writers of the essays were upper middle class (or above), and a number of them lived in California or Florida, so if you're retired and live on a modest income someplace other than the two lower coastal regions, you might discount some of the suggestions or advice. I can neither trash it or praise it to the skies, but as I say, it is positive and uplifting, and it wouldn't, for most of us, be a waste of time or money to read it. Just have realistic expectations.

Rewarding
This is an encouraging and also entertaining glimpse at growing older. It makes a nice birthday gift to a new member of the seventh decade.

... it before giving it to them and it seems like a cute novel idea
Gave with a 70th birthday basket gift and I perused it before giving it to them and it seems like a cute novel idea. Reminds you to live each day to the fullest, don't wait until retirement, make plans and goals and do them now and don't stop when you're 70, keep on living each day to the fullest!
