Review: Another fine LED lamp from desertcart - Another fine LED lamp from desertcart. As I wrote in another review, I have about 15 actual oil lamps, some round wick side and bottom drafts, some flat wick, and several hurricane style oil lamps, mostly cold draft but one hot draft as well. This LED lamp is superlatively made, substantial, metal construction with glass globe. There are actual oil lamps this size, this is a little smaller than standard oil lamps, but oil lamps were only larger for two reasons. 1. If you want them to burn longer, they need more oil, so a larger font is required. If you want them to burn brighter, a wider wick is required, and with a wider wick came more heat, therefore a wider globe was required. With LEDs there is no such concern, there is no practical reason to make it larger. Also, it uses 2 D cell batteries located in the base, this adds stability that an oil lamp of this size wouldn't have. This is a lovely piece of workmanship throughout. LEDs cannot simply be turned down like a light bulb, they use an electronic circuit to do that, and the on/off brightness switch is actually similar in function to a volume control. This lamp has the best on/off brightness switch I've seen to date, no abnormal fluctuations in brightness as you go from dim to bright. (Read the reviews from some other manufacturer/retailer's version of LED style lamps, this has been an issue). As I said in my other review, this is an area light, not a flashlight, oil lamps weren't flashlights either. This model's light output seems comparable or brighter to a similar size oil lamp and very practical for mood lighting and fun evenings, during power outages, etc. No fuel to worry about, no fire, no burns, no smoke, no need to clean the globe due to soot. With children around, you don't have to be hyper-vigilant about where the kids and oil lamps are. We're very pleased with this lamp, and I think it was well worth the price. Review: Excellent! I was pleasantly surprised at the massive amount of light these little lanterns produce when properly positioned. I hung one lantern about 7' off the ground in the center of a 10'x10' tent and it produced a wonderful sphere of cool-toned ambient light. With the other lantern, I turned it down to low and put it on a table. On a table, they put out about a 3.5' radius of light. These little lights are very bright, not just in terms of the amount of light they produce, but in terms of when you look directly at the light source. They're best when hung outside of your direct line of vision. They also look really cute and vintage-y.

Great lantern
Lantern has a dimming knob which works great. Very bright to dim (comparable to a night light). Nice bronze finish.

The old time BRIGHT light
This lantern is one of the neatest lights I have ever bought. I got it for my wife who just loves it, not only for the old fashion design but the great amount of light that it puts off. This was one of the best lights I have ever bought that uses batterys and led lighting. Just for the looks alone....everyone should have one!

COPPER LANTERN
I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH SIZE AND AMOUNT OF LIGHT. I EXPECTED MORE LIGHT, IN CASE OF POWER OUTAGE. IT WAS ALSO MADE A LITTLE CHEAPLY.

lantern
The lantern is smaller than I imagined it would be. You will need 2 "D" batteries. The light is bright white, not a soft light. Seems bright enough with new batteries. Construction is average. Company that sent it over is fantastic. The original lantern was broken in transit and they replaced it immediately without me having to ship the other one back.

Attractive and useful
This looks like a vintage lantern, but casts a wide area of light from the LED bulb inside. It's an actual kerosene-style lantern that has been adapted to LED. Our camping trailer is a long distance from the shower building at our campground, and this lantern is perfect for walking over there at night in the dense darkness of a wooded campground. We just love this product.
