A lovely embroidery technique
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is beautifully published right from the hard cover and is easy to open flat to read. It is written by a young woman from the UK who has an easy and friendly manner. The verbiage is such that it seems she is sitting next to you giving you step by step instructions. It truly is step by step too. The format is such that each instruction has a number and a corresponding picture of the referenced instruction. The photography is very close up so the stitches are almost magnified and easy to see what the author is instructing. There are 5 designs in the book: dandelion, sunflower, mushroom, robin, bumble bee. All of them are step by step instructions right down to the tiniest detail. They start with less challenging and go on to more challenging. If you follow Emillie’s directions, with practice, you will be successful. This technique is not a quick hobby that can be whipped up in a few hours. Relax, enjoy the process. It is not an especially expensive hobby. A piece of fabric, some needles, hoop and thread and you are good to go. This technique is done with one single thread in order for the colors to blend well. Emillie show you where to make the color changes and what colors she has used (DMC #s) for her projects. You can use those colors or pick your own colors. So, slow down and enjoy the process. I would definitely recommend this book for someone who wants to learn this technique. Good job, Emillie!

Detailed step by step photo instructions
I am new to embroidery and didn't know how to start until I opened this book. Excellent instructions for everything from needles, threads, start points, finishing, etc. I love the style of stitching that Emillie uses on her projects and I was able to follow along and complete my little project with beautiful results. I highly recommend this book to any embroidery enthusiast.

I love this book...Beautiful and artistic
I bought this book because I was so impressed by Emillie Ferrisʼ embroidery, and I love bees and mushrooms. The cover is well made and the photos are just beautiful. She designed the book with the same artistry that she uses in her work. I have not tried to embroider just yet so I cannot say how thorough the instructions are but from a glance at all the close up photos she includes, I am pretty sure, this is an excellent book.

Beautiful book and useful to learn stitches!
This is the type of book you want in hardback copy if you can. It's worth it. If you are a long time embroidery person or beginner- there's so much inspiration in this book to appreciate or to learn or try. The book contains large quality photos and helpful, interesting text. I recommend the hardcopy of this book.

Gorgeous stitchery book with easy-to-follow patterns.
This book is not only visually stunning, it also lets you create the amazing works of art that are featured within! The patterns are intricate and easy to follow while also leaving room for the stitcher to make their work unique and personalized. I wish that there were more than five patterns in the book, but I appreciate the detail with which the author explained each one and the process behind their designs. I am currently working on my first pattern - the robin - and can already tell it will be lovely when complete. I would definitely purchase another book by this author again!

Very well written
I've been cross stitching for a couple years now and want to venture into embroidery. This book is very well written. It explains every step very thoroughly which is helpful since I'm teaching myself. Also the book itself is beautifully put together and I love the design of the cover and filler pages

GREAT for learning how to paint with thread!
There aren't a ton of projects in this book--know that before you buy. The few projects that are in the book, however, are the highest quality I've seen in embroidery books so far. It's a great reference for embroidery beginners to understand what tools you need to get started, how to master thread painting techniques, and the projects have very detailed instructions to help you get going smoothly. It would also be great for embroidery masters just for the patterns--just be aware that there are only a handful compared to other embroidery books.

Maravilhoso!!! Me apaixonei! Recomendo!

Bellissimo libro

Gorgeous, but not suitable for beginners: no clear instructions.
It's absolutely beautiful, if you don't mind experimenting or don't need step-by-step instructions, go for it! the guidelines are not very clear, they often are just "cover all the green area", although it's a tricky pattern and clearly it's not simple short-and-long stitch (it's like "how to draw an owl" meme: circle, then another circle, them finish the owl). Also the colours of pattern on the cover are very different from the actual thread the author suggested. They are still beautiful, but much more subtle.
