Classic Mansell
Jill Mansell is an auto-buy for me--at least when her books go on sale. Her characters are just so darned nice. All of them. She always provides a thoroughly likeable heroine who's in a pickle, the heroine's mentor, a series of other characters who complicate things, and a delightful amount of hilarity. Reading a Mansell is a wonderful reward for a tough day.In this one, the heroine is amicably divorced from a charming philanderer who just can't help himself and works for the prosperous owner of a a colony of holiday cottages. He's just sold the cottages to a new owner, a devastatingly attractive (of course) man. Her assignment is to hunt down people from the previous owner's past so he can clean up the misunderstandings and messes he's made along the way. Complicating things is the mutual attraction she has with the new owner, to whom her two darling and outspoken children have taken an immediate and profound dislike. There are other plot lines, too. How they're all resolved is classic Mansell, funny, poignant, and just right.

Not a fav
Jill Mansell is by far of my davorite authors, but I just couldnt bring myself to rate this any higher. Iread a ton of her work and most all of them ( 90%) I'd rate 5 ***** I just didn't feel that same quirkiness ebbing theough as I do with most her characters. It was a good story, just not up to her usual stuff. It was a bit slow going for me. However, I would enjoy 3*** books from her all day long!

Love Jill Mansell but this story doesn't live up to her usual clever, very entertaining stories. I can usually relate to one, if not more characters, but I didn't really care about any of these characters. Cressida was probably the most likeable character but she was not given much of a story line. All the stories felt rushed and under developed. The ending was totally predictable and unsatisfying.

Typical chic lit
Reading to kill time with a bum knee. This fit the bill. There is nothing outstanding, but a fun little story that is nothing but brain candy.I have a bone to pick with the author about the scene with the teacher and the threat of child protective services, but other than that, it was smooth sailing.

Not Her Best
I was so disappointed in this book. I absolutely love every other book Jill Mansell has written. But, this book felt very scattered. Too many different characters and the children were so unlikable. I struggled to finish it. Hopefully her next one will be better.

My least favorite of all her books
Ehhh... it was OK, but of all her books this has been my least favorite. Not as funny and romantic as the others I've read.

Another awesome read
I just love Jill Mansell, what can I say? I love how all the stories intertwine, I love how so many real life issues are explored, and I love how it all comes together in the end.

A bit disappointing
Probably my least favourite Jill Mansel novels so far, and i've read most of them! The story line itself was quite gripping, but I found that the lack of respect that the children characters had for their parents, and lack of expectation and discipline from parents frustrating.. the words spoilt brats spring to mind! Bearing in mind that this is a fictional story, I still was enthralled to read to the end.. however the ending I found disappointing too, lacking in romance and, anything, really. Another niggle for me was the amount of grammatical errors throughout, lack of punctuation, and breaks between paragraphs, irritating and at times making the story hard to follow. Not the standard I expect from a Jill Mansel novel.

No end in sight
I love reading books by Jill Mansell, as they are easy to follow & you get a warm glow inside as the girl gets the big & all is happy. With this one, yes love was found, but it felt like there was more to tell, I'm left with questions I want answers to. So, unless there is going to be a book two, I'm left feeling a tad disappointed.

Brilliant☺
The story line was brilliant with a sense of humour. Emotional truth in the story too, perhaps that's what Ames it a good read.
