great quality, as expected!
not shocking at all that it works perfectly. paying for quality always pays off and as a result, it is much easier to use compared to a cheap knock off. the size of it is standard and it's just what you'd expect and the fit and finish is very good. the blade is crazy sharp. it cuts with minimal effort which means you can focus on your design and work vs. worrying about making your groove by applying too much pressure. given my previous experience with Tandy brand, I am very hopeful for a long lasting product.

Great tool.
Tandy tools are always the best value for the money. I would consider them a medium on the quality scale. Yes you could spend more and get a better one. If you work with leather full time get the best. If you are a hobbyist like me then this is the one to get. The cheap ones are just that. Cheap. This tool works great and gives you great stitch lines.

This is a nice groover, and I really like the fact that the cutting edge is on the main handle as opposed to to others styles where it is located on the arm. It takes some getting used to to ensure you get a good symmetrical groove parallel to the edge of your leather piece. I also recommend running it on a leather strop with some polishing compound every few uses to keep it sharp and cutting a clean smooth groove.

Beware of counterfeits, but the real thing is a great tool.
The first one one I ordered from the seller Avatrolla was a counterfeit. It came in plain packaging and was clearly not a craftool brand item. Bad craftsmanship, dull, and clearly used. It came clogged with leather. I bought another and made sure to choose a different seller (Open Bay Trading) and recieved the real thing. It came in Tandy packaging and is clearly a quality tool. It's sharp, doesn't clog easily, and doesn't have any loose parts. I've included a picture of the real one (top) vs the counterfeit (bottom) and it's pretty obvious the difference in craftsmanship. If you can get the real thing here from a reputable seller, you can save yourself a good chunk of money over buying it from Tandy.

Great all purpose leather groover
Easy to grip and control handle and the cutting blade is sharp. When I need a deeper groove than my wing dividers this is my go to tool.

Great or terrible: a total crapshoot
If I were writing this review a week ago, it would have been five stars - no hesitation. I bought my first pro groover ages ago, and have used it pretty much daily. The guide was excellent, easy to adjust, and it left a nice clean groove behind. The blade finally began to dull, so I bought a replacement blade this week. The new blade was absolutely terrible. Refused to cut - just dragged along the leather, leaving a ripped up mess. I went back to Tandy and bought a brand new groover, blade and all. It also was awful. This one didn't even rasp along the leather - it just pressed into it, leaving marks, but not cutting - no matter what angle I held it at. Is this tool worth risking the money on? Absolutely. If you manage get a good one, it will be an excellent tool for years.
