Stop Walking on Eggshells for Parents: How to Help Your Child (of Any Age) with Borderline Personality Disorder without Losing Yourself

Lots of Great and Practical Information
I am a psychotherapist and recommended this book to my patients' diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder families and supports regularly. Stop Walking on Eggshells is easy to read and understand, it does include overly clinical terms or interventions, without defining these terms in plain language. This is a book that does not place blame on anyone. The author provides many examples of how to implement the strategies into a support's daily life. It is clear the author has a strong understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder and the ways it can tear apart the individuals diagnosed with the disorder as well as the relationships around those individuals. For anyone looking for ways to help bring structure and calmness to a loved one with the disorder or for those looking to better understand the disorder, this is a great book to have.

Good book! wish it contained a least a summary of CBt and DBT
Great book at explaining DBT and getting tips on how to parent and respond. Just wish it included basic overview of DBT and CBT which it describes as main solution for people struggling with BPD

Helpful
Helped immensely with our 17 year old daughter. Important tools have been learned for both of us. Glad it was recommended by her treatment facility.

Essential for parents.
Just the first few chapters help make sense of what a child/young adult is thinking while in the mindset that stems from BPD. I felt relief and understanding of why I suddenly became a bad father and how to best respond to the emotions driving beliefs.

OMG, where was this book when my daughter was a kid?
Reading this book was like being resuscitated from a deep dark place. I believe both my mother and my daughter suffer(ed) from borderline personality disorder. My mother, whom has passed away, could be so vicious at times and yet quite loving and caring at others,. I grew up totally confused. After any decades in therapy I came to realize just how codependent I was. But that didn’t save me from what was to come, my daughter, a later in life, much loved only child, and as equally vicious as my mother. I didn’t understand why she was so mean, until I read this book. I wish I had had it when she was young. I didn’t know how to set limits, I always blamed myself and I have suffered the consequences ever since. I highly recommend this book to any parent wondering “Whare did I go wrong?”

A must read.
This is a must read for anyone with a family member who has BPD. For the first time my wife and I were able to say "It's not just us. There are others who understand". That in itself is worth the cover price. The first hand testimonies from both BPD's and those who love them are very helpful. The list of diagnostic behaviours are spot on. I wish we had this resource years ago.
