Do I need a certain pole for this, or can I use my pole for my travel cover(pointed)

Most every manufacture uses the same size support pole. I would say about 97% of all covers have the right pole. So, I think you will be fine on this one.

Does it come with the canvas square?

Yes it comes with canvas square and installation instructions

Do you need to use glue to prevent the canvas top from splitting? I would think the hole made may tend to rip under pressure from the pole?

It would depend on the quality and condition of your canvas, but I did use rubber cement on both surfaces to prevent tearing. I have had the vents on my canvas for about 4-5 years, including travel on highways, and have not seen any tearing due to the vents.
