Great for 6 year old
My grandson who is six just loves the fact that once he catches something he has a close up look at it.

Fun toy!
This toy is great because it requires no batteries and the young ones can put things in there and look at them through the magnifying glass. Exciting for the 3 and 4 year old grandsons! The squeeze trigger that opens the trap door was easy to use for my 3 year old but getting bugs that was proved difficult…. So we picked them up and put them in, looked at them and let them go. It was fun, but putting things in there around the house is just as much fun! We also bought the other vacuum style bug catcher with the bug barn and together those toys help create some great bug catching memories- we learned so much and had a great time together!

Overall great but better design to not crush the bugs legs
My kids love this. However, they keep smashing legs in the doors.

Good toy for kids interested in outdoors
I purchased this as a gift for a 5 year old boy. This is a good toy for kids who are interested in nature. The one caveat is that the pinching doors that open and close are a little too thick, making it somewhat challenging to "catch" a small insect on a hard surface without squishing it in the process. Still a fun little outdoor toy when used with a parent who's willing to coax a bug inside or perhaps when spotting a bug on the grass/plants.
