How hot is Rani Hot Curry Powder?

It is genuinely hot, but the heat sits on top of eleven spices rather than replacing them - cooks often tell us the flavour arrives first and the warmth second. If you want more, we also blend an Extra Hot version.

What is actually in the blend?

Coriander, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, ginger, black pepper, mustard seeds, curry leaves, chilli, fennel seeds and garlic, finished with capsicum oil. No salt, no MSG, no fillers and no added colour.

How do I get the most flavour from it?

Bloom it first. Warm a spoonful of oil, stir the powder in for about thirty seconds until it smells sweet and nutty, then add your onions, tomatoes, vegetables or lentils and carry on cooking.

How much should I use?

Start with one level teaspoon per serving. This is a potent blend and a little goes a long way, so it is always easier to add more than to take it out.

Is it really salt-free?

Yes. There is no added salt, no MSG and no flow agents or fillers, so you season the dish yourself and what you taste is the spices rather than the salt.
