Holbein Colored Pencil Blender, Meltz, 35 ml Squeeze Bottle (OP850), 1.18 fl oz

This Holbein liquid blender for colored pencils is wonderful! Up until trying it, I used only blender pencils, and depending on the size of my coloring image, I might go thru an entire pencil, or more, getting the colors blended. At $3+ per blender pencil, not very cost efficient. This Meltz really goes a long way, just a couple of drops can literally blend a whole picture, so don't be put off by the small bottle size. I've used it on Prismas, Polychromos, Derwent metalics, Gold Horse, Qili brand pencils and it works great on all of them. A couple times I've blended first with a pencil and then gone over some areas with the Meltz for a smoothed out finish. Only thing I suggest is stay away from using brushes to apply. You'll saturate your paper unnecessarily and lose fine control. Instead use a make-up fine point q-tip. I found some on Amazon that are bamboo, so I'm not worried about a cardboard core wicking the solution away. A couple drops on a precise swab goes a lonnng way! And there is absolutely no odor!

This works great! Blends the colors, and allows them to cover any dips in the surface. Can give colored pencils the look of watercolor, or paint. I am a novice, and not finished with this yet, but will upload an example. Use sparingly, to avoid blurring sharp lines and edges. Amazing effects and quality!

Hands down, best solvent for wax-based colored pencils I have found. Works with ALL brands, and a little goes a long way. If you're used to using plain alcohol for blending, there is a bit of a learning curve, since this is a stronger solvent. I will definitely be purchasing more.

I've attached a small test I did on cold press watercolor paper. This product says on the bottle that it will work best with Holbein color pencils, but as you can see from the test, it worked best on Faber Castell Polychromos. It didn't work at all on Prismacolor. So, if you're looking for a great blender for Polychromos, I highly recommend. Otherwise, skip it.

Holbein Meltz solution is capable of blending out coloured pencils but is also capable of blending out water-soluble media, as well. I put the Meltz solution into an empty Copic Sketch marker and use it as a blender for coloured pencils as well as water-colour pencils and even Neocolor II crayons. The Sketch body is refillable and the Copic nibs are replaceable if they get too worn. It's the perfect environmentally-friendly solution - no plastic pens to throw out when they're empty or when the nib is worn. Love Holbein Meltz solution!

I have a set of Holbein pencils but I tried to use this on my Caran D’Ache set too and it doesn’t work. I prefer Holbein pencils anyways. But I like how this blends things out.

Best cover color ive used. Fixes small holes

As a liquid colour blender it is effective. But it takes a long time to dry. Hence one needs to be careful of quantity used for blending.
