Tobias takes a lot of information--relevant, necessary, and expansive--and somehow distills it into a fast, enjoyable, informative read. Clearly a non-fiction book, this reads like your best friend is conveying sage advice and a lifetime of experience in a friendly and approachable way. I would recommend this to anyone interested in personal finance and investing, someone needing a good place to start their finance journey, or really anyone looking for insight into how to best take control over their financial life through simple investing.

Andy Tobias is my favorite personal finance journalist. He writes for all ages. He's candid and refreshing. I bought an early copy and revisions. I recently bought a copy for a college student and he LOVED it.

For the average Joe Workingstiff who doesn't know much about finance and investing this book is a great primer. It truly does cover what should be taught in schools. But its not going to turn you into Gordon Gecko.

Explains everything in PLAIN ENGLISH and does NOT waste your time trying to “UPSELL YOU” another expensive program! To the point and easy to understand!!

Bought this as a gift for a friend. I read this book decades ago and bought my first shares of stock with its advice and doubled my money in less than a year! It's a good book with sound investing principles and it provides a method to quickly analyze stocks and other investments. It's one of several books that everyone should read if they have an interest in investing. This book has been updated over the years with many additions and the fact that it is still being purchased more than 40 years later, despite thousands of published investment books over that time, is a testament to its wisdom and value.

Has helped me to amass a nice little nest egg for my upcoming retirement. Simple and way to follow. Bought one for my son so he can continue his investment strategies with some knowledge. Get the book. Don’t wait.

The books talks a lot about other books and doesn’t really teach me any specifics on investing and when it does isn’t easy to understand. I need a book that gets to the point a lot quicker and explains to the average reader that doesn’t have a background in finance and assume I know what they’re talking about.
