Product Description The 1994 return of King Crimson was timed perfectly, matching, in no particular order, one of the peak periods for CD sales, a time of great variety of radio formats in the USA, the growth of a number of bands who pointed eagerly to the influence of King Crimson, especially of the 1972 - 74 band, a more positive critical reception for the band - following the remasters of the catalogue, Frame by Frame & Great Deceiver boxed sets supervised by Robert Fripp. Such timing not only benefited from the release of the various musicians from their other musical commitments, but in Robert Fripp's case, the ultimately successful battle to regain control of King Crimson's catalogue. With pro-recording technology also more affordable and more portable, almost everything this band performed was recorded & much of it filmed. From the earliest jams and demo sessions to the final recording sessions at Nashville in 1997, the tapes were running. The resulting abundance of source material has facilitated a much broader overview of this line-up's music to be presented, particularly in hi-resolution stereo & 5. 1 Surround Sound. Blu-ray 1 contains three complete albums in 5. 1 Surround sound & six albums in Hi-Resolution stereo, while Blu-ray 2 features two complete filmed concerts & two shorter films, three with 5. 1 Surround Sound & with an audio only option all of the music on the disc. 12 CDs of studio & live material. 1 DVD 9NTSC region 0) of video material, 1 DVD-A with new hi-res & 5. 1 material, 2 BD discs of studio & live material in 5. 1 Surround Sound & hi-res stereo, Limited to one worldwide pressing. Review 'Thrak is a powerful listen- a series of joyous slabs of muscular music, immaculately played. Its experimentalism is rendered gloriously open, loud and clear in this new anniversary remix, now in hi-resolution audio and 5.1 surround sound. Audio quality is astounding; all instruments distinct, heightening the power of an already excellent record...' --Uncut Magazine

oh my
It took me a while to get through this CD box set the first time. Now going through this the second time this may be one of my favorite purchases. I can only describe this as schizophrenia vs mania. I found my cat hiding in one of her go to freaked out places at one point during a listening of one of the numerous discs. There was a shift in the musical dynamics for this band with this album as they became, how shall I say, bombastic. Great stuff. I am glad a purchased this while it was still available. Not for the faint of heart.

a must have for Crimson fans
My road to the Thrak Box.I first heard VROOOM in 1994 😮 I was happy to have my favorite band back.🙂🙂🙂 I was getting my fill on all the awesome releases. Thrak, Vroom Vroom and Thrak Attack.I had acquired a lot from that time. and thought I was complete. When I heard Fans, Sloth, Nuns, Felons. from ATTAKCATHRAK. I new I needed more.So I purchased the Box set. I am very happy that I did.Lots more previously unreleased material .Beautiful sound on all of the mixes. Tons of collectable material.

A worthy reissue on Vinyl.
Nice to rediscover this after getting more than my fill of it back in the 90s. Even better to have a beautiful vinyl copy, since I always liked the graphics. This sounds really clear and it also includes the Vroom ep as an extra enticement. Loved Belew's ballads, the industrial sounds and Fripps fluid guitar lines. Get it, you won't regret it!

The Steven Wilson remixes are must haves for Crimson fans
Anyone who complains about Steven Wilson's efforts with King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake and Palmer ( though I feel Jacko dropped the ball on Brain Salad Surgery ) and Chicago is a self righteous, self absorbed, self satisfied and confused individual missing out on the frailties of enjoying life.

Some of the reviews tagged to this item are not for the CD/DVD-A 2 dsic package
What I bought and what I got is the 2 dsic CD/DVD-A (not dvd but it should play on a dvd player. There is no video but there is DVD audio as well as DTS coded audio). Crim is not for everybody and most of what they did/do is not really my cup of tea but the musicianship is first class. I have all these anniversary 2 disc packages mostly just for the 5.1 surround sound tracks. I need content to feed my surround sound system. There is usually one killer track on each of these sets. Some of the rest is interesting and some of the rest is mear twaddle. Just my opinion. Very much in the prog/jazz/rock fusion vein. My fave of these sets is DISCIPLINE. Heavy guitar of Frip and Belew. Sorry I'm not informed or cool enough to know what's going on here but Walking On Air was already recorded on one of the Belew KC albums. This is a different version.

Must have for Crimson fans.
The 5.1 version of this is more interesting than the stereo, in that the individual instruments are much more clearly indicated and defined as they move within the sound sphere. The stereo version is more dynamic, profoundly so, than the original version. Any Crimson fan will own this, and all other of the nine 5.1 versions of the Crimson package. These releases have given me a reason to listen to Crimson quite often, with much pleasure.

Buen trabajo Jakko!!!

this is Crimson's second best record after Red
In my opinion, this is Crimson's second best record after Red. The 12 CD's cover the process from rehearsals to the tour. The sound in this set is outstanding with most of the music coming from multi track tapes and the other from DAT's. You get the long out of print VROOOM plus CD' like Thrakkattack ( yes aim sure I spelt that wrong). There is not one dud CD in the bunch but the higlite is the Blu Rays. The first Blu ray has the largest amount of music I have ever seen on one disc. Besides the 5.1 (which sounds excellent) mix of the album it also has a complete live show in 5.1 plus several of the CD's presented in hi res and some in 5.1. The second Blu Ray has live a show with video but it's a single camera shoot and a second complete concert made for Japanese TV. But there is so much other content on Blu ray you will be listening and watching them for hours. The price tag is pretty high but you do get your monies worth!
