It really depends on what car you're driving. They're not slow or boring. Use the e-brake and you will be winning easy. At the beginning anyways...

You have to earn credits to buy cars and you can't choose as many as you want to. If you sell a car, like in real life, they're worth less. So choose wisely. Still, I love this game. its awsome and the way the passing lights are reflected on the cars using hd tv is just eyecandy. And yes you can play split screen offline. Recomended.
