Will these work with MDF trim?

I havent tried it on mdf, but I can tell you the pins that secure the bracket to the window frame are small in length and thin and do not penetrate the wood to a great extent, but having said that, the brackets design make them stable and and strong and I have long heavy drapes hanging on the rods with no problem…. I would suggest taking a sample piece of mdf and try tapping something like a paneling nail into it and see how the mdf holds up… if there is no breaking or crumbling, you may be good to go…if not, they are returnable. I'd like dimensions of the spiked ends I have a window detail that it will not be able to be flush on and want to know if i can seed both prong?

I believe that you can seed the prongs, give it try. I really like these for our windows. I don’t like going into the wall to hang curtains, it was a joy finding these before I hung our drapes. The look is clean & tailored which I truly appreciate.

MY rod is 1 1/8" diameter will it still fit in the 1" brackets?

I really don’t know. I’d advise you to order them and see if your rod will fit in the bracket. If not send the brackets back.

Could I use this to hang a plant on the window molding?

You could, however it only extends approx 2.5 inches from the wall, so that may not be enough clearance for the plant to hang freely.
