Do you have to have an app for this hat to pair to your phone?

Someone under the reviews wrote that you have to have an app that costs $20 a month to use this hat. That is untrue. If your phone is the least bit "smart," that is, if it has Bluetooth installed, and what cell phone doesn't these days, pairing will be easy for you. That said, this is a very cheap hat with an electronic device, less costly than some plain old baseball hats, and it has mechanical components (the wires and the speakers), so there is always a tiny chance of getting a lemon. Apart from that, you have to admit that some users are incompetent.

If you take the blue tooth box out of hat first

Mine didn’t come with a manual and won’t pair. The light is red. Is there an on/off button? Nothing is working.

Once you cannot the inner battery via usb the light will go red for a few hours and should charge the battery
