I recommend MIYA to anyone looking for a moderately priced, high quality matcha. Especially those looking to make it at home to save money and overall enjoy a better drink for your dollar. To start here are the basics - Upon opening the tin, the smell was super strong, sweet, earthy, and nutty i was pleasantly surprised - MIYA has a vibrant green hue and comparing to other ceremonial matcha it’s not dull, but also not as bright - matcha by itself has a slightly bitter, but sweet grassy taste with slight hints of nutty almond flavor - This powder is BEYOND blend-able even without a chasen (trad. matcha whisk), it’s smooth, rich, and froths so beautifully! Also YES IT CAN MAKE MICROFOAM:))) Below is a continued review of quality and price, what I used to prepare matcha, and what it was paired with PRICE - This is a great quality for a great price. I was a barista for two years, and have continued the craft at home. It is extremely difficult to get a drink with matcha tailored the way I like it, and frankly disappointing when it’s undrinkable, filled with iced and over $7. - Customized matcha in my area ranges from $7- $9, and by my third drink with MIYA I broke way over broke even. PREP - I use a $15 four-piece set that came with a chasen, holder, and two traditional scoopers. Of that I use the chasen, one scooped, small stainless steel mixing bowl, 4 oz espresso pot (for hot water) - I did not buy a traditional bowl, a controlled temp tea kettle, a scale, or any of this super fancy equipment some matcha users utilize. - Matcha Konomi has a high enough quality that doesn’t require a sifter, all drinks mentioned and pictured are made without powder being sifted. After trying various name brands, from the pricey to the budget-friendly, I became increasingly aware of the potential lead content lurking in matcha powder. I’m on my 3rd bottle of this Matcha. It’s almost feels like a break in my gratitude to not leave such outstanding notes and remarks about this product. I found this product when I was first looking to try matcha as a replacement for coffee. This brand looked promising but I came from a background of only having Starbucks Matcha which I think I pretty tasty and good in a pinch for reference. I’ve had a few local latte shops that range from grass water to Heaven. So I feel like I have a solid understanding of the flavors I’m looking for. When I first tried this product I thought it was really good! I tried a few different recipes from overly sweet to too watery. This Matcha is fantastic with a generous dose of shifted matcha, 177f water, and a small amount of a good plant based frothed cream- I used sweet cream by Chobani. When I ran out of my first jar I picked up a different brand of ceremonial grade at my local supermarket for about $15. The difference is extremely dramatic and noticeable. This matcha has an unparalleled sweetness, brightness, and clean green flavor as opposed to the one I tried. For an extra 4$ the quality exemplifies what a great start your morning can be too. The focus is fabulous and no crashes. I no longer rely on coffee. I drink matcha lattes, an regular teas. Coffee has now become something that can be a really special treat and experience. I would highly recommend this product and I’m even considering buying the Larger bulk bag. Thank you team!

I’ve been a “high quality” matcha drinker for probably a year now and while the color of this matcha did make me skeptical of it at first I will say for the price point and how much you get it is well worth it. Will definitely be buying again!

I greatly enjoy this matcha. The color, smell, and taste are all fantastic. It dissolves quickly and easily produces a rich satisfying foam. This matcha is delicious with no bitterness or grittiness . The packaging is high quality and the metal container seems to be air tight to help keep the matcha fresh. This is my first match purchase beside trying the costco culinary type. It comes well packaged with the expiration date on the plastic. I can say that the color, smell, taste & seal of the package were great. It was easy to dissolve as I whisk it away. The taste to me was smooth & no bitterness or dullness. My order came with a thank you from the Ceo. From tasting culinary grade to ceremonial grade, this is definitely a step up. It seems to be a high quality & a well put together matcha. I can not speak to the energy level as I am currently sipping on it. Would recommend.

The taste is very savory, and a bit pulled back in bitterness/sweetness. I'd say it is a good fit for an afternoon tea party with confectionaries, compared to Matcha Konomi's signature Akira, which is better for breakfast tea. Texture is very smooth, you do not feel the grains even if you use a lot of powder, and it is very easy to froth. This may not exactly be the flavor profile you like, but I can easily tell that this is high quality tea. Drinking Guide: this tea definitely needs to be sifted before consumption. As a rule of thumb, tea that is not as bitter and more savory typically tends to hold a bit of natural oil/moisture (you can tell from its vibrant dark green appearance), so make sure to sift them to prevent clumping.

I am not one to write a review about most things I buy, but when it warrants it, I am compelled. This is such a case. I won't go into how many I have tried and every experience, but I have been drinking Matcha for over 20 years. I know the importance of ceremonial grade and how the quality is superior to other green teas. So, I always sought out the best I could find with a gradable list of requirements I was looking for (organic, ceremonial grade, price, etc)... But I have had the ones with fillers like you get a Starbucks and other chain products, as well. So, I have come familiar with a bitter taste that I grew fond of. Maybe that's me missing coffee. lol But, when I tried Matcha Konomi, I instantly fell in love and knew I have been cheated by all the others. Perhaps, I'm getting a little too dramatic but I will say that this brand is excellent on every measure of quality. I will try to continue to fall in love every day if my purse allows. Although, I do know the cost of excellence. Flavor palette: is smooth with a snap and an easy ride-up. Everyone has their preferences. This is one of mine.
