Quality pliers. This is my go to brand for upholstery tools

I debated getting these for a long time and I am still on the fence. No doubt they are excellent quality and feel nice to use. However, the offset from the front of the jaw to where the ring is held is a bit excessive, making automotive upholstery difficult where thick foam has to be compressed before the ring is squeezed. I wasted a lot of rings and in a couple spots had to switch to a very old and worn pair, I almost ground off some of the nose of these to improve their performance. So, they will likely last me a lifetime, but don’t quite work as well as my old very worn set.

This was the first time I’ve installed car upholstery or used hog rings. However, I’ve always appreciated quality tools, and I don’t mind investing in something that can make a job go smoothly. These pliers are the real deal! I could tell they were high quality before taking them out of the package. Right from the start, the angled head and precision craftsmanship made the job a breeze! I was hesitant to spend this much money on a tool that I thought I would use once, but after reading other reviews, I decided to give them a try. Wow, I’m glad I did! I’ve already found a few other projects to use them on, and I have no doubt they’ll last longer than I will!

These work perfectly for hog ring sizes up to 1 inch. I bought a cheaper pair of pliers from a different seller and regretted it immediately. These were more expensive but worth the price. Quality tool.Note: When using them for 1 inch hog rings you do have to open them as wide as you can, the fit is very tight as it’s at the limit, but the will go in and the longer handles are long enough to provide sufficient leverage to compress the rings fully.
